Tun M: Malaysia Continues To Draw World Attention On Gaza

KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 (Bernama) -- Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Malaysia's continued assistance to Gaza was aimed at drawing the attention of the world community to the sufferings of the Palestinians besides the humanitarian factor.
The former prime minister said the commitment also showed that the people of Malaysia were more sensitive compared to the other major powers who only talked about humanitarian but did not practice what they preached.
"We would like to call upon the international committee to look at the behavior of Israel. Beyond that, (there's) no other choice because we cannot ask any power around there to help us because the powerful country are just not interested in seeing humanitarian work being done in Gaza," he said at a media conference after sending humanitarian aid by the Perdana Global Peace Organisation (PGPO) at the Yayasan Al-Bukhary building, here Friday.
He said although Malaysia had given various aid to Gaza previously, they were inadequate because the destruction caused by the rockets and bulldozers had damaged the facilities and homes of the people there.
"This is why we have taken decisions to actively help Gaza. This is a humanitarian act and (there's) no political interest. We are not just helping Muslims but we think this is a humanitarian effort and therefore we should do our best and use our capability to help people," he said.
Dr Mahathir, who is also PGPO chairman, said as such, the PGPO had agreed to send essential building materials and medical supplies through the ship "Rachel Corrie" owned by PGPO as the official transport for any aid consignment to the troubled nation.

Thank you Tun Dr Mahathir. At your age you are still working and working and working and thinking for the oppressed in Palestin.

Tun Dr. Mahathir is truly a world leader.
