PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is "progressing well" in his recovery at the intensive care unit of National Heart Institute (IJN).
"He's fine. A bit less chatty than Sunday, but he's ok. His progress is good, and doctors are quite happy with how things are going," said his daughter Marina Mahathir when contacted Monday.
She said doctors were still monitoring her father's condition.
When asked if there was any word on when he could be discharged, she replied:
"No, not yet. They (doctors) want to be really, really cautious and have everything cleared before they let him out again,"
Dr Mahathir, 82, who had a second coronary bypass operation on Sept 4, was transferred back to the intensive care unit of the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Friday night, to enable doctors to monitor his overall condition.
Marina, who had just returned from Hong Kong on Sunday, also said her father had given her "orders" to buy persimmons and melons.
"He was asking for the melons last night, he took some of it," she said.
She added that no visitors were allowed still, but there have been few who turned up and signed the visitor book.
Various people, including former Philippines President Fidel Ramos, Thai Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont, Singapore Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, Libyan President Muammar Gadaffi and Sultan of Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, have sent emails and letters.

I'm sure he will recover more rapidly if his daughter stops being a heretic.
We, supporters of Tun Dr Mahathir am appalled with Marina Mahathir who conducted the interfaith prayer session for the Tun. It is heresy as by doing so exhibits her lack of conviction to Allah. It may be socially correct but it is downright heresy in any religion to admit the existence of another god other than the one worshipped by the repective religion.
The preiests were mainly humouring the woman like a silly girl playing in the garden pretending to have a tea party.
the interfaith prayer session was done not because the lack of faith/conviction to Allah. it was made for other religion people who wanted to offer their prayers too,
i don't think it's wrong unless you join their prayers, that will be wrong.if you just sit down quietly and listen , nothing wrong with that.thanks da real deal.
