Forced sponsorship-NST School Sponsorship Programme

New Straits Times
Schools in the federal administrative capital will be using the New Straits Times as part of their learning tool, thanks to Alliance Teamwork Marketing Sdn Bhd.
The company is sponsoring the newspaper to 13 schools under the NST School Sponsorship Programme.
The year-long sponsorship is worth RM42,640.
ATM executive chairman Danny Chua handed over the sponsorship to New Straits Times Press group editor-in-chief Datuk Hishamuddin Aun at a ceremony here yesterday.
Also present was Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, who is also Member of Parliament for Putrajaya and its Umno division chief.
Tengku Adnan presented bicycles to reward 62 students who performed well in their public examinations last year.

tunku: why nst,why not star.everytime there's english newspaper sponsorship it will be nst, guess the cant sell much and the best way ask private company to sponsor to schools,if they dont sponsor there's no contract,no special treats etc.Of course it's a method of brainwash for the students, grow up and accept everything that are taught to them in nst.

I'm first to respond to your posting, again! Naturally when an ULC (bukan GLC) is facing a marked downturn in its marketing, the hairy hands of UMNO will show. If UMNO don't do that then, NST will have no buyer or subscriber. To augment their dwindling sale (less 100,000 copies daily as oppose to more than 350,000 by STAR) this strong-arm tactic must be employed. If a company could fork out RM42,000, just imagine the amount if 100 companies being approached by NSTP with the backing of UMNO !!! This exclude the wakil rakyat and ketua Bahagian Umno who have earned their wealth after being involved with UMNO. I, for one have boycotted NSTP long ago !!!!!
