PAS Youth Chief's Moral Policing Move Under Fire

SHAH ALAM, Feb 10 (Bernama) -- PAS Youth chief Nasrudin Hasan Tantawi's proposed crackdown on immoral activities on Valentine's Day on Monday in states administered by the DAP-PAS-PKR pact has come under fire from his own party.
Shah Alam MP and the city's PAS chief Abdul Khalid Samad said Selangor PAS rejected the proposal.
He said Nasrudin was not empowered to speak on behalf of the state governments.
"He (Nasrudin) does not represent the state governments, and the state religious departments always curb immoral activities whether it is Valentine's Day or not," he told a news conference at his office here.
Nasrudin, responding to Khalid's statement, said PAS Youth would go ahead with the policing despite the opposition and would distribute leaflets on the matter.
"We are only carrying out our responsibility. If any of the Pakatan state governments object to it, PAS Youth will accept that," he said.
In KUALA LUMPUR, MCA Youth chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said the proposed PAS Youth crackdown was the harbinger of the implementation of Islamic state policies by the DAP-PAS-PKR pact.
He said the DAP-PAS-PKR state governments in Kedah, Penang, Kelantan and Selangor had to adopt a stand on the matter.
"I challenge Nasrudin to explain to us the jurisdiction of PAS Youth and whether the state governments will allow PAS Youth to identify places which couples frequently visit as well as arrange with the local government officers and PAS members to carry out moral policing," he said.

tunku : one wants to uphold Islamic value and the other one is against it to please it superiors in dap and pkr.pas is divided into two groups. it is sad that pas can't do anything it preaches all these while just because they have to bow down to dap and pkr.khalid samad the new modern "ulama" in pas has said all.
