Spirit Exists To Strengthen Umno In Kedah, Says Mukhriz

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- Kedah Umno liaison deputy chief Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir said there already existed a spirit among the state Umno leaders and members to set aside trivial issues for the sake of strengthening the party and to return the state's administration to Umno.
He said even if there were any differences between the leaders or members at the divisional or branch level, they were regarded as minor as there were bigger party interests to think of.
"We are optimistic about resolving the problems and are prepared to face the next general election," said Mukhriz after chairing the 1Malaysia National Youth Chamber of Commerce (1MNYCC) Pro-Tem Committee meeting, here, Monday.
In the party's recent organisational reshuffle involving the liaison chairman and deputy chairman posts in some states, effective Jan 1 this year, Datuk Paduka Ahmad Bashah Md Hanapiah was appointed Kedah Umno liaison chief, replacing Datuk Mohd Shafie Apdal, and Mukhriz, the deputy.
Asked about the new appointments, the International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister said it was too early to see the impact.
"However, based on the feedback I've received so far, the outlook is positive," said Mukhriz, who is also Jerlun Member of Parliament.
Mukhriz said the Kedah Umno liaison's task would be focused on raising the people's confidence in Barisan Nasional's capability in administering the state, compared to the current administration under the PAS-DAP-PKR state government.
"Comparing the two, I think it is clear that BN is more able and capable," he said.

tunku : the appointment of ahmad bashah and mukhriz as the new kedah umno liaison chief and deputy will bring the state umno into a new dimension with greater future. we believe the kedahan too are happy with their appointments compare to the past leadership under mahadzir khalid.the new team must work extra hard, round the clock to win back the people's heart and with all the efforts it is not impossible to do so, in fact the chances of BN to regain victory in kedah is very good.kedah state government under the pakatan, had failed miserably to develop the state.kedahans are not happy with them.we hope mukhriz and ahmad bashah will take this opportunity to the fullest to wrest back the state from pakatan.

1. If we sincerely believe that the new leadership is one that is the very opposite of the former, then it would be acceptable to also suggest that those aligned to the former leader, be they division leaders or branch chairman or even those employed in Bangunan Tunku, should for all intents and purposes :

a) be sidelined at all levels at the present moment.
b) NOT be trusted by the present leadership
c) NOT be picked as candidates for the next General Election
d) NOT even be made 'Penyelaras Parlimen' in their respective divisions
e) be watched / observed / closely followed and monitored for signs of insubordination and traitorous inclinations.
f) NOT be involved in the election strategic planning committees. ( A careful appraisal of their motives and hidden agendas should be set in motion by the present team)

2. Much of the latest fiasco in Kedah UMNO, in so far as the bringing about of DS Shafie Apdal's "withdrawal and downfall" is concerned, is esentially due to the 'mischevious activities' of some, if not the majority, of division leaders . One can summarise that it's the big-headed and bloated ego of these leaders that had caused uncertainty and uneasiness in the party all these while ; perhaps even before the 2008 election defeat and fiasco.

3. Grassroot members are fed up of hypocritical leaders who some believe, won their posts via unscrupolous and devious means. Respect for them would not come easy ! Thus, to be subservient to them would be a case of self-humiliation ; perhaps even a curse !

4. We implore upon the new team to take heed of the past, critical of the present and careful of the future ! May the injection of the so-called new blood bring about the necesary changes that will spur reformations and innovations in the day to day running of a party that had worked so hard for the 'rakyat' for the past 50 years or so. If what is need is a change, then it must be for the better ! Good Luck to the those who had the virtue of trust and confidence of the PM. Fail him NOT ! For if you do, then you had failed NOT only the leadership but the ordinary members and rakyat as well ! And for that you'll be damned forever !
