"Human Capital" The Keyword At Umno General Assembly
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 (Bernama) -- The term "human capital" inculcated by Umno president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, appeared to be the oft-spoken term by delegates of the 58th Umno General Assembly which ended here today.
If before this, the terms "New Economic Policy" and "Vision 2020" had taken centre stage, this time it was "human capital" development that is being stressed by Abdullah in his mission to produce outstanding Malaysians at the global level.
Bernama chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini said "human capital" was touched upon by almost all the delegates during the debate.
"It seemed to a must-use term. Like in praying, the prayer is not valid without reciting the Fatihah verse," he said at a special forum held in conjunction with the wrapping-up of the debate on the Umno president's policy speech, which was aired by TV3 today.
This year's general assembly was attended by 2,522 delegates from 190 divisions throughout the country.
"Based on the delegates' arguments over various issues, I think almost all of them had touched on 'human capital'.
"It's a keyword that is close to their hearts. In the past general assemblies, it was the 'New Economic Policy' or 'Vision 2020'," he said.
Mohd Annuar, who is also special advisor to the Prime Minister for the Northern Corridor Economic Region, said each delegate had his or her intellectual edge in conveying the message.
"That's Umno. The party is just not a meeting point for intellectuals, academia and professionals, it also represents the voices of the grassroots at large," he said.
tunku : other than human capital thing, this is the worst winding up speech by an umno president ever.it's just like an senile man talking.
