PAS will field non-Muslim candidates in the upcoming Sarawak elections, its deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said.
He said the party had identified several individuals from the PAS Supporters Club who had the potential to become candidates, and would refer their names to the Syura council for approval.
"For the first time ever, the central committee has identified several non-Muslim candidates from the PAS Supporters Club.
"An official announcement will be made in Sarawak on March 12," he told reporters after chairing the party's central committee meeting, here, Saturday.
Tuan Ibrahim also confirmed that the Islamist party will be contesting 11 seats in the state election, adding that the constituencies would be made known later.
"The entire state election machinery is ready. We will contest in areas where we know there is a potential for victory," he added.
The Sarawak election is highly expected to take place in April, with the five-year state assembly term automatically ending on June 19 this year.
