Penang DAP Socialist Youth (Dapsy) has agreed to freeze ties with its PAS counterparts in support of their Dapsy National counterparts with immediate effect.
Its chief Ng Wei Aik said they will no longer have any form of contact, attend meetings, talks or even activities and programmes held by the Pemuda Pakatan Rakyat, PAS Youth or PAS.
"This is best approach to reaffirm our stand that we do not agree with PAS' move in passing the amendments to the Syariah Criminal Code 1993," he said at a press conference in Komtar Walk on Friday.
He added that the reason why Pemuda Pakatan Rakyat activities will be boycotted was because PAS is also part of it.
"We have no issues with PKR and will continue to show our support for them in the Permatang Pauh by-election campaign as Penang Dapsy and will continue to work with the Angkatan Muda Keadilan," he said.
When asked why not break away or severe ties with PAS Youth, Ng said although it is an option for them, they will continue to assess the political scenario and progress on the hudud issue.
"We will see whether UMNO will show their support when the private bill or motion is being tabled in the parliament.
"That is also critical for us," he said.
"We agree that Penang PAS and Kelantan PAS is different but we hope that some action can be seen.
"Definitely Penang PAS will not try to move any hudud bill in Penang," he added.
