PasMa leader fears that hudud amendments will spell end of Pakatan

Persatuan Ummah Sejahtera Malaysia (PasMa) is worried that Pakatan Rakyat will break up after Kelantan passed the amendments to the Syariah Criminal Code II 1993 on Thursday.

PasMa president Datuk Pharolrazi Zawawi said that the gap between PAS and coalition partner DAP was too big at the moment and that he could only see a break up at the moment.

“I hope they can settle this issue for the existence of Pakatan Rakyat but at this stage I believe it will be very difficult,” he told the Star Online.

He said that PAS had the right to table the hudud laws as it was their main agenda, even before Pakatan Rakyat was established seven years ago.

“Hudud is an old issue for PAS while DAP have strongly made their stand against hudud. The gap between them is too big at the moment,” he said.

When asked what PasMa would do if there was a break up, Pharolrazi said they would wait until the time came.
“We at PasMa support Pakatan Rakyat and hope they can settle the issue because otherwise Barisan Nasional will be too strong,” he said.
