DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has told PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang to leave Pakatan Rakyat if he insists on tabling the Private Member's Bills needed enforce hudud in Kelantan.
"Don't do it under the false pretence of representing Pakatan Rakyat. Do it as an MP, not a member of the pact," Lim told reporters at Parliament lobby, Tuesday.
It was reported that Hadi, as the Marang PAS MP, had made an application on March 18 to table a Private Member's Bill to allow the syariah penal code to be implemented in Kelantan. The application was made a day before the state assembly passed the Kelantan Syariah Enactment Code II (1993) 2015.
Lim said Hadi had lied to his Pakatan partners by failing to consult PKR and DAP before making his move.
"By breaking his own promise, it is no longer about his democratic right, it is about being cheated by Hadi. Don't promise things you can't deliver.
"I am not questioning his democratic right, he has the right. But don't do it as a Pakatan MP.
"Leave Pakatan if you can't deliver your promises. His action does not reflect a leader from Pakatan. Better for him to leave," said Lim.
