A Kelantanese yesterday advised Sibuti folks not to vote for PAS as the Islamic party had not proven its worth.
Freelance
motivational speaker Sharif Mahmood, 55, opined that the PAS government
had not shown any credibility in the past 25 years of governing the
state.
“I would like to advise Sibuti folk to see for themselves
what is happening in Kelantan under PAS and compared with Sarawak,” said
Sharif, who used to be a civil servant in Kelatan.
“There is so
much difference, the gap is so big. It is obvious that the BN government
is more caring,” he said when met at Rumah Anyai Ijau in Saeh here
yesterday.
He added that because of this reason he had personally
visited villages and longhouses in Sarawak to spread the truth about PAS
with the hope that Sarawakians would not make the wrong choice come May
5.
When asked about the issues raised by PAS in their campaign in
Sibuti, especially those pertaining to native customary right (NCR)
land, Sharif said PAS should rectify their own NCR issues before trying
to be a hero in Sarawak.
“For those who do not know, Kelantan not only have the most critical NCR issues, but also critical water crisis.
“If
they (PAS) really can resolve NCR issues, they should first resolve the
one in Kelantan which they have governed for 25 years,” he said adding
that PAS is spewing lies to hoodwink voters in Sibuti.
Sharif
claimed that the federal government channelled about RM600 million to
the Kelantan government annually, but so far the state was still in a
poor condition and people questioned where the annual allocation had
gone to.
“I dare say this because I am a Kelantanese, born and
bred. I want Sarawakians to know that PAS cannot bring in development no
matter what they promise.
“I have visited many longhouses in
Sibuti, and I saw that the longhouses here had received numerous
assistances from the government.
“The area is developing well and
there will be more assistance for all these longhouses in the future.
But if PAS took over Sibuti, these aids would stopped because PAS cannot
give it to them like the BN government.”
He added that PAS would
never disclose the progress and development in Kelantan when campaigning
in Sarawak because they had nothing to be proud of there.
PAS’s
intention when entering Sarawak, he opined, was just to be in power and
not to help the people or look into their welfare because if they really
cared they would have cared for the welfare of Kelantanese.
“PAS
is only here to stir racial sentiments, which is a very valuable asset
of Sarawak’s multi-racial community. Sarawakians should unite to
preserve this asset and not let PAS destroy it.”
When asked about
PAS deputy president Mat Sabu’s claim that Sibuti would be their first
born in Sarawak, Sharif said the claim was only Mat Sabu’s dream that
would never come true.
“He (Mat Sabu) better stops dreaming and
waste his time with Sibuti. Sibuti folk want continuous development and
only BN can give them these developments.
