GE13: Anwar urged to stand up as a leader and accept defeat graciously

Several Barisan Nasional MPs have slammed Pakatan Rakyat leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for questioning the outcome of GE13 and the legitimacy of the government of the day.
MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said Anwar should be gentleman enough to accept defeat.
“I feel sad that there are still Opposition leaders trying to use the election to create issues and not accept the results which are a sincere reflection of the peoples' choice.
“The people have decided and the Opposition should be gentlemanly about it,” he told reporters after attending a closed-door briefing between the Prime Minister and newly elected Barisan parliamentarians yesterday.
The Bentong MP added that the Opposition was trying to split hairs and create doubt to stir the emotions of the people.
“Anwar has to stand up as a leader and accept the polls results rather than spreading lies,” he said, adding that foreign observers had said the electoral process was effective and transparent.
MIC deputy president and Segamat MP Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said Anwar was merely trying to gain power after failing to do so via the polls.
“The people have voted and what other better way than through an election?” he asked.
Johor Baru MP Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad said Anwar should not hurl accusations against the electoral process but back up his claims with evidence.
“Don't dream up all sort of ideas and accusations. Show where it happened instead of making endless claims of electoral fraud.”
Shahrir added that it was ironic Anwar was questioning the integrity of the process when Pakatan-led state governments had been sworn in in Kelantan and Penang.
“Anwar is still barking like a dog at an imaginary ghost which only he can see,” he said.
