Dirty Kit Siang

Kit Siang Has Bad Intention, Says Muhyiddin

KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang had bad intention in challenging him to admit that he is a Malaysian first, Malay second.
Muhyiddin, who is also Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy chairman and Umno deputy president, said Lim only wanted to hurt his relationship with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
"Kit Siang has a wicked intention as he himself does not support the 1Malaysia concept," he said after meeting with NUTP (National Union of the Teaching Profession) representatives at parliament building on Wednesday.
Lim, who is Ipoh Timur MP, today challenged the deputy prime minister to quit his post if he fails to admit he is Malaysian first, Malay second, hence not being in tune with the 1Malaysia concept mooted by Najib.
Muhyiddin said by issuing the challenge, Lim was trying to attack the 1Malaysia concept which he did not support but had gone down well with the people.
He said he had previously stated in the Dewan Rakyat when explaining the concept that when a leader spoke on his community, it did not mean that he did not support the 1Malaysia concept which was based on the Federal Constitution and Rukun Negara, among others.
"It is not wrong for any leader to struggle for the interest of his own race. Don't tell me that Kit Siang does not struggle for the Chinese community.
"It does not mean that if we help the Malays, we don't help the Chinese. We help all communities."
Muhyiddin questioned Lim's challenge to him as not only did he not support the 1Malaysia concept as he was championing 'Middle Malaysia', the DAP was also regarded as a chauvinist party dominated by one race.
He also challenged Lim to prove that the DAP's Middle Malaysia policy had the support of all parties in the opposition pact.
"I will now bow to his demand. He can repeat (his challenge) a thousand times. I am a Malay first but being Malay doesn't mean you are not Malaysian. I don't think Kit Siang will understand," said Muhyiddin.
When mentioned to him that Lim had said that we was Malaysian first, Chinese second, Muhyiddin said anyone could say anything but was important was the person's real stand.

tunku : at least muhyiddin is sincere when he said he's a malay first, malaysian second. lim kit siang will say this in different way in front of different audience.we challenge lim kit siang if he and the rest really feels that they are malaysian first , chinese second, let abolish all the vernacular system school and we have only 1 school for all Malaysian.will he support that? the answer is obviously NEVER. kit siang should mean it when he says that he's malaysian first....don't just say it just for the sake to take on others.just look at indonesia and thailand, the chinese or other races there speaks only the national language and even their name are in thai or indonesian. can kit siang and others do that here? again NEVER. so you better shut your mouth up kit siang.mean what you say and walk the talk.we have been leaving in peace all these years , don't create tense unnecessarily.

PM defends Muhyiddin over 'Malay first' statement
BY MAZWIN NIK ANIS

PUTRAJAYA: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin remains committed to the 1Malaysia concept despite his “Malay first” statement, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said on Thursday.

"What he is saying reflects the provision in the Constitution, which is based on the ethnic (group) to which one belongs.

"But Muhyiddin is also saying that he is committed to 1Malaysia, so I don’t see that as a contradiction,” Najib told reporters after launching the Finance Ministry’s MyProcurement portal.

The Prime Minister said saying one is a Malay did not mean that he was against 1Malaysia or think that he was not a Malaysian.

"Similarly, if you are a Malaysian Chinese doesn’t mean you don’t think like a Malaysian or subscribe to the concept of 1Malaysia," he added.

Najib was asked to comment on Muhyiddin’s statement Wednesday that he was "a Malay first", then a Malaysian.

The Deputy Prime Minister said this in response to DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang’s challenge for him to resign if he refused to admit he was a Malaysian first and a Malay second as proof that he was in full support of the 1Malaysia concept.

Muhyiddin said Lim had wicked intentions in making the challenge to him and was aiming to drive a wedge between him and the Prime Minister who mooted the concept.

Najib introduced the 1Malaysia concept when taking office on April 3 last year, pledging to listen to the people and declaring that "the era where the Government knows best is over.
