PETALING JAYA, Jan 12 (Bernama) -- Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil today called on the people, from all walks of life, to help look for five-year-old Sharlinie Mohd Nashar, believed to have been abducted since Wednesday.
She said they should not leave the task of finding the girl to the police alone.
"We have 26 million people in Malaysia. We should not allow the criminals to cripple our efforts in finding the girl," she told reporters when visiting the missing girl's family at their home here today.
Sharlinie or Nini was reported missing at about 11.30am on Wednesday while playing with her eight-year-old sister, Sharliena, at a playground about 200 metres from their house in Taman Medan here.
Police have since mounted a massive search for her and have distributed posters of Nini and a photofit of the alleged abductor nationwide.
Nini's disappearance has created anxiety among Malaysians following the case of eight-year-old Nurin Jazlin Jazimin, who was found brutally murdered after going missing near her house in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur in October last year.
Shahrizat also urged all Malaysians to pray for Nini's safety and appealed to the abductor not to inflict any harm on the girl.
"As a mother myself, I appeal to the abductor not to harm Nini and return her safely to her parents," she said.
Meanwhile, Selangor Menteri Besar Selangor Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo announced that the state government would install closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) immediately at all public playgrounds for safety measures.
Speaking to reporters after visiting Nini's parents, Dr Mohd Khir, who was accompanied by wife Datin Seri Zahrah Kechik, said that so far 200 CCTVs had been installed at high crime-risk areas in the state and that another 200 CCTVs would be installed by year end.
He appealed to the public with information on Nini or the suspect to contact the police.
tunku : all malaysians are praying for sharlinie's safety and pray to God that she'll be returned to the family unharmed.i remember few months ago shahrizat made a statement that nurin jazlin kidnapping will not happen again but it happened again and again.we can't give guarantee with best safety protection that the incident will not happen again but can reduce the chances of it . every malaysian should join hands to combat this sick incidents. parents should not let their child alone without supervision may it be just outside their gate.

It is hard as parent to feel the torture every hour by the kidnapper's actions. I feel the pain as many other parent would.
Every residents in Klang valley, every housing associations, buidling management and security firm managing buildings should pay attention to suspicious neighbourhood, motobike riders and every one should just look around us , God willing, smeone out there can break the ice.
TO huntdown such illusive kidnapper(s), we must join hand nationwide, not just POLIS alone. We need to systmatically ensure all neighbourhoods are in the action's plan. Markdown every suspicious neighour.
