New Batik Ruling For Civil Servants

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 15 (Bernama) -- Beginning this week, all male civil servants should wear Malaysian-made batik shirt to work every Thursday, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan, announced today.
He said a government circular to enforce the ruling was signed by Public Services Department director general Tan Sri Ismail Adam, adding that it would be sent to all government departments soon.
Prior to this new ruling, male civil servants were required to wear batik shirts to work only on the 1st and 15th of every month.
"Formerly, it (the ruling to use batik) was only every Saturday... back then, it was easy to remember. Now, since we changed to 1st and 15th of every month, people forget.
"We are going back to the same system... which is easier to remember. We only allow the use of Malaysian batik and nothing else," he told reporters after opening the Seminar to Evaluate the Effectiveness of New Initiatives to Improve the Government's Service Delivery System.

tunku : while making it compulsary it's good for batik business but i believe most of the civil servant with lower salary can't buy local batik that is costly.they'll buy batik from indonesia and now also from china which is much much cheaper. so who gains from this ruling??

Why everytime we need to launch anything, we force it on the civil servant, cikgu sekolah, school children, orang felda, kemas, etc.?

Kenapa orang Malaysia berbilang kaum dalam korporat sektor dan SME tak boleh sama terlibat menyokong pelancaran2 yg diusahakan kerajaan?

it's very simple bro, they don't have authority on others, so the black sheep will be their servants etc.

Hangat2 tahi ayam!! I'm sure the circular by KSN would include 'only local batik'!! Just imagine more than 900,ooo govt servants, donning batik every thursday, very colourful indeed!! Probably some departments would confine to certain design only to identify the department!!! Allahyarhamah will be smiling since she was responsible for the rebound of batik industry!!
