Disaster Victims In Malaysia Not Left Out : NGO

Local non-governmental organizations(NGO)s, although always seen to be channeling aid to the needy abroad, also provide aid for disaster victims in the country,Peace Malaysia coordinator Mukhriz Mahathir said.
He said NGO's like Peace Malaysia,Mercy and the Malaysian Red Crescent, would utilise all resources to help those affected in any disaster in the country.
"They are seen to be helping victims abroad, but this is because we have the ability to do so.In fact, among Muslim countries, Malaysia had been among the first to send its aid mission to countries affected by disasters, like Indonesia and Bangladesh," he told reporters at an aid mission for victims of the recent floods in Kampung Serengkam ,Maran.
The programme involved a "gotong-royong" to clear the village of debris from the floods and also a health camp to provide medical service for the residents.
