Is the Indian community in Malaysia deprived of clothing, jobs and meals?"
Hindraf Accusing The Govt Blindly, Says Samy Vellu
SUNGAI SIPUT, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- MIC President Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said today the accusations of the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) against the government were made blindly without considering the progress achieved by the Indians in the country.
He said he was prepared to explain to the people the progress and development achieved by the Indian community to counter the baseless allegations, including of purported ethnic cleansing of the Indians, hurled by Hindraf against the government.
"I cannot lie in this matter. There are things that we get and there are things we don't. Is the Indian community in this country deprived of clothing, jobs and meals?" he asked when approached by reporters after he had opened the Perak Information Department's leader-with-the-people programme, here.
He said the government and the MIC had provided various kinds of aid and support in upgrading the livelihood of the Indians, including an annual allocation of RM1 million for the building of temples.
