Now it's an explosion in the Jalan Duta court complex basement

KUALA LUMPUR (June 8, 2007): The newly occupied multi-million ringgit Jalan Duta court complex was rocked by an explosion in its basement on Tuesday (June 5).
The explosion is believed to have been caused by a Co2 (Carbon Dioxide) valve, connected to a gas tank, that gave way to pressure at 12.43am.
A Federal Territory Fire and Rescue Department Control Room confirmed a team was despatched to the scene after a "rocking blast" report was made.
He said Sentul firemen in an engine contained the situation after shutting down the main switch and valve in the basement where the tank was stored in the file room.
The spokesman said there were no casualties as the incident occured past midnight and the Co2 was also not harmful.
The compressed Co2, he said was kept for emergencies, to put out fire affecting Information Technology equipment, including computers in the complex.
He said the building maintenance contractors were told to fix the burst valve and joint.
Court officials declined to comment about the incident and it is learnt that the staff had been told to keep hush about the matter, especially from journalists covering the court proceedings.
Public Works Department officials could not be reached for an explanation on the matter.
The court complex had been hit with a series of problems, since it began operations in May, with cracks appearing on the building structure, frequent breakdown of the air-conditioning system, partial flooding of the cafeteria due to a burst water pipe joint and also damage to court files after sewerage overflowed in basement.

tunku : thank god its Co2 not C4.
