Rahman Dahlan: Sacking 1MDB board a ‘waste of time'

Sacking board members of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) would not get to the bottom of the truth, said Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan.

In a statement on Friday, the Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister said the move should only be considered if any board members refuse to testify.

Rahman Dahlan was commenting on the viral video of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's speech calling for the sacking of 1MDB board members at a closed-door Umno event.

He said the current board just took over the reins, and would need time to understand the history of transactions before being interrogated by the Auditor-General and the Public Accounts Committee.

“This is time-wasting and goes against the urgent call to investigate 1MDB.

“I agree the removal of 1MDB’s CEO would calm public anxiety but I don’t know if it can contribute in our quest for the truth," he said.

Rahman Dahlan also reminded the public that the current CEO of 1MDB was only appointed for a few months and was not involved in the controversial transactions of the company prior to his appointment.

He also said that Muhyiddin has no intention to disrespect Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

“To be fair, Muhyiddin did mention in the video it was not his intention to show hatred to the Prime Minister.

“If we follow public statements made by Najib before this, he is also saying the same on 1MDB,” said Rahman Dahlan, who is also an Umno supreme council member.

But he did note the difference between Muhyiddin and Najib’s stance over the 1MDB issue.

He said Muhyiddin was asking for the removal of 1MDB’s CEO, while Najib was emphasising on the action to be taken after investigations were completed.

On Wednesday, the PAC began its probe into the controversial company.

Frequent changes in auditors will be examined. And the entire history of the company since its start in 2009 will come under intense scrutiny by the PAC.

Walau apa pun Midin tak bijak cakap macam tu depan pemimpin Mno,walaupun dalam majlis tertutup.Dia tak perlu belit-belitkan apa niat dia, kerana Allah Maha Tahu.Tambah lagi cadangan itu sendiri tak patut datang dari TPM,tak ada cara,senang-senang saja nak pecat orang tanpa di adili dan di selidiki terlebih dahulu, benar ke mereka bersalah.Tak usah lah ikut perangai PM pencen tu,tak ngam saja dia pecat, pusing sana pusing sini cara jalan nak pecat org yg dia tak suka.Macam yg kena pada TSAbbas dan NuarBrahim.Selagi dia ngam, buat apa pun dia tak kesah, macam Nuar dia tahu dah lama Nuar kaki belakang tapi dia tak kesah ,malah dia masih boleh naikan Nuar jadi TPM dan memangku PM pun.Tapi bila dia tak ngam kerana kes bailout anak dan kroni, baru dia ambil alasan tersebut utk pecat Nuar, walhal benda dah berlaku lama,TS Hanif pun dah breaf dia lama, surat WA pun dia dah dapat lama.Sesuai lah juga Me din kena sebiji dgn Fuad.

Dulunya saya bukan lah peminat Najib, tapi sekarang ni saya nampak hanya PM Najib saja yg boleh di katakan 'wise man' dalam Mno,termasuk juga beberpa tokoh dari sabah dan serawak seperti Rahman Dahlan ni dan Salleh SK, yg lain ramainya geng Sarif Dol,samsing jalan kebun.Saya bukan ahli Mno,malah tak akan sokong Mno pun kalau geng Sarif Dol yg pimpin Mno,baik saya undi Pas.
