Shahrizat applies for leave from ministerial duties pending NFC probe

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said Thursday she has applied for three weeks' leave from Friday from her duties as Women, Family and Community Development Minister.
She said in a statement that she had put in the leave application to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
"I hope the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will be able to undertake the investigation to determine whether I was associated with or not in any of the decisions made by the Government on the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) in which my husband, Datuk Seri Dr Mohammad Salleh Ismail, is the executive chairman," she said.
The NFC issue cropped up after the 2010 Auditor-General's Report issued last October said the corporation's cattle-breeding project in Gemas, Negri Sembilan, to boost production and reduce import of beef had failed to meet its target.
The issue heated up following allegations by the opposition political parties of irregularities in the government allocation of RM250mil to NFC. - Bernama

tunku : applying leave is not enough kak jat, just resign from the ministerial post for time being. concentrate as wanita chief and later when things settle down and if the pm thinks that your service is required in the cabinet, he will appoint you then. sacrifice for the party kak jat.do not make party suffer just because of you.

Over the last ten years governments in the Third World has gone for big projects. They are good and the spin off is good if they are properly managed. In business the golden rule is that you begin small measure the market three time and then expend production. In business the key is cost effective and the annual bottom line. In this regard it is good policy to keep supply below demand,

Big project on governmet backing have a drawback. When you put up a building say for RM500,000,000.00 you will need another Rm500,000,000.00 to maintain that building over its life span. That is why in private developemnt the developer makes sure that half the built up area is rented out to pay for the up keep of the building.

Frankly, the aim of govrnment should be to put more money in the hands of the people through small projects and let them go into areas that they think will be profitable. These citizens who have the extra cash will then begin investing in the developement of the economy.

In recent years it has become a trend not only in Malaysia but in many Third World countries for government to play a leading instead of a supporting role in the development of the private sector. Initially this is very atractive. But in the long run these projects will not be sustainable and can only do so by feeding on its tail. They will have to down size to survive. The famous saying in economics "the snake is now eating its tail".
