Cracks Deepening, More Will Leave Opposition Parties - Mustapa

KOTA BAHARU, Dec 19 (Bernama) -- The cracks in the Opposition will only deepen before resulting in a real split when more leaders and members quit because they have lost confidence in their top leadership, especially that of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).
Kelantan Umno liaison chief Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said some PAS followers had also started losing confidence in the PKR leadership, and he felt if PAS continued to work with PKR, more and more PAS and PKR leaders and members would leave their party after realising who PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim really was.
"Just look at PKR, many of the leaders including some of its Members of Parliament have left the party and the problem will only get worse."
Mustapa, who is also International Trade and Industry Minister, said this to reporters after the opning of the Learning Centre of the School of Professional and Continuing Education, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTMSpace), here.
Mustapa said PKR and PAS should also realise the role of DAP and PAP in Singapore as both had close relations as indicated by certain damning statements made by PAP leaders which were exposed by WikiLeaks.

tunku: i just can't understand pas who called themselves Islamic party can associates themselves with dap adn pkr who is totally against of pas's islamic state agenda.till today pas still telling its members that they will uphold islamic state but at the same time they becomes puppet of dap and pkr.pkr too has lied to everyone in pakatan and even worst they have lied to their own members especially the indians.dap has always been a family affairs.these three parties will never be able to rule this country successfully.they had failed in kedah, penang, selangor and kelantan.

Opposition Leaders Poison Investment Climate, Says Mustapa

KOTA BAHARU, Dec 18 (Bernama) -- The people should reject leaders of the opposition, who tried to poison the country's investment climate, said International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.
He said such leaders put the country in a bad light by spreading lies and tried to create chaos.
"We do not want our country to be perceived as unsafe for investment due to uncalled for attempts by certain quarters with vested interest.
"We want the people to be united, live in peace and prosper," he told reporters after opening an entrepreneurial seminar, exhibition and clinic organised by Gabungan Muda Berjaya here Saturday.
He said the transformation drive undertaken by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had borne fruit and the people should work together to achieve the goals of becoming a high-income developed country.

tunku : the opposition in other countries attack the their government ruling party but never jeopardize the country's image or economy but here in Malaysia the opposition even can sell the country just to topple the ruling government.these people are traitors.they do not love their country.the people must reject them.

Opposition Pact Plans To Take Legal Action

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- The opposition pact plans to take legal action against Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia after Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and another three opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) were suspended from attending the Dewan Rakyat sitting for six months.
The Member of Parliament for Bukit Gelugor, Karpal Singh (DAP) said the decision to go to court was taken after they were not given an opportunity to give clarification during the debate on the motion for the suspension.
"We may take it to court. There is a precedence in the case of Gobind Singh where we took in fact the Speaker, Pandikar Amin himself. The court has ruled that in certain circumstances, especially when the rules of natural justice is not complied with, then the court has the jurisdiction.
"It's so blatant that it (the action of the Speaker) cannot in any way be defended. We want a judicial ruling on that so we can't let him get away with this. We don't want this to become a precedence in the future," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby, here Thursday.
The Dewan Rakyat today passed the motion to suspend Anwar (PKR-Permatang Pauh) from attending its sitting for six months for making a statement linking the 1Malaysia concept with the One Israel campaign.
Also suspended were Karpal Singh, R.Sivarasa (PKR-Subang) and Azmin Ali (PKR-Gombak) for several breaches.
Karpal and Sivarasa were said to have breached the Standing Order 85 which states that evidence taken before any Select Committee and documents presented to it shall not be published by any member before the committee has presented its report to the House.
Azmin, through the letter of notification dated Dec 6, 2010 under the Standing Order 18(1) had touched on the statement and letter submitted during the Meeting of the Rights and Special Privileges Committee on Dec 3, 2010.
Meanwhile, Anwar said he would use the PKR-DAP-PAS pact convention to be held in Penang on Dec 19 to explain to the public on his suspension as well as that of the other three MPs.

tunku:it seems like karpal's brain is not functioning well nowadays. his legal action against the speaker will be rejected by the court as the parliament held the power to expel members for improper conduct.sometimes they think they are smart but actually a bunch of morons.they have shown a very low standard of an mp's attitude in the parliament yesterday.so unprofessional of them especially their leader.do read about the lies by the opposition about apco by yb zul.

Autonomy For Sarawak Just Fantasy Of PKR's Mat Jenin - Rosnah

KOTA KINABALU, Dec 15 (Bernama) -- The Puteri Umno chief has described Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president Azmin Ali's statement that Sarawak would be given autonomy, should the opposition come into power, as a "fantasy of Mat Jenin who could not keep his feet on the ground".
Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin said the statement was only intended to mislead the public, especially the people of Sarawak.
In Malay folklore, Mat Jenin is depicted as a dreamer.
Rosnah said PKR leaders were willing to do anything, including promising the moon and the stars, just to regain support after the party was deluged with problems, including the crisis of confidence for the existing leadership.
"The promises made by the opposition leaders, including to give autonomy to Sarawak, are absurd.
"Everyone knows Sarawak is rich in mineral and natural resources, which will not be disposed off easily by PKR as it had been waiting to take control of such a rich state," she said in a statement here Wednesday.
Thus, Rosnah advised Azmin and the opposition leadership, especially PKR, to stop dreaming of something that would never become theirs.

tunku : they (pakatan) will promise anything just to fool the sarawakian to vote for them.they know that sarawak is a rich state, if they can get the state that means the will have lots of cash at their disposable and not for the sarawakian.we can see what's happening in selangor, penang, kedah and kelantan.the revenue of those states is decreasing. what the sarawakian should know is that, sarawak is huge state and to develop the state needs good management and lots of resources.the pakatan will never be able to increase the income and they will spend more than they can earn. sarawak will be in huge deficit.do not jeopardise your future.BN is still the best government for sarawak.

WikiLeaks: Anwar plans to sue Dr Mahathir, media

KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will file a suit against former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for his comments on the WikiLeaks cable controversy.
When contacted Tuesday, Anwar's lawyer Sankara Nair confirmed that Anwar would be filing a suit against Dr Mahathir and that they were still gathering further information for "possible suits against several other individuals and certain newspapers.
"There are no further details at the moment.
"We are checking the authenticity of The Sun-Herald story which was published in Australia as our initial investigations show that their story was not based on any WikiLeaks story," he said Tuesday.
When asked if Anwar would also be filing a suit against Singapore’s Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, he replied: "Until now, there have been no instructions from my client to sue Lee Kuan Yew."
However, he added that he was checking on certain facts in Australia, and would then advice his client accordingly.
He also said that they had contacted the Singaporean Deputy High Commissioner, and were still awaiting a response.
"I will be writing in officially tomorrow (Wednesday) asking for a response," he said.

tunku : he just lost a case with cost against Tun Mahathir recently and still trying his luck again.the actual reason he want to sue Tun and the medias is that the court will issue a gag order on his sodomy trial and no one is allowed to talk it outside court.this way he will be secured and not being worried of more his secret comes out openly.i wonder why most of the muslim lawyers are quitting from his defense team.is there a clear sign to them? keep suing anwar, you ended up paying all the costs.

Karpal: Singapore’s allegations of Anwar’s ‘set-up’ is in contempt

KUALA LUMPUR: The leaked US diplomatic cable stating that Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s sodomy charge and trial “was a set-up job” and that he had “walked into it” is sub judice and a contempt of court, his lawyers said.
Anwar’s counsel Karpal Singh said that it was “no doubt, contempt of court”.
“Now we have to confirm with the Singapore government if what was reported is in fact true.
“But it is sub judice, as it is a pre-judgment of a trial which has yet to be concluded,” Karpal said yesterday.
Karpal said he would act once his client instructed him. Anwar is currently abroad.
In a press statement, Anwar’s other lawyer Sankara Nair said that checks with their Australian counterparts have indicated “that no such references were made by WikiLeaks”.
“To the allegation that ‘it was a set-up job and he probably knew that, but walked into it anyway’ as was supposedly quoted by the media, our simple answer to that is: which man in his sane and right mind would deliberately walk into a trap if he has prior knowledge of it?” he asked.
However, Umno legal adviser and lawyer Datuk Mohd Hafarizam Harun said he did not see the leaks as subjudicial to the current trial.
“The issues brought up (in the cable leak) is something which is outside the sphere of the courts and is not relevant to the ongoing trial,” he said.
Anwar has become the latest personality to be embroiled in the WikiLeaks cable controversy when a leaked diplomatic cable showed that the Australian and Singaporean intelligence agencies discussed his latest sodomy charges and trial.
The PKR leader, however, refuted the allegations via his Twitter account on Sunday, saying “Source? Polis SB Msia. Bukti tak ada” (Who is the source? Malaysian police special branch. There’s no proof).

tunku : anwar will only say there's no proof but never says i did not do it. for the contempt of court issue,it is another tactic by anwar's defense team as they always waits opportunity like this to delay the case.they asked which man in his sane and right mind would deliberately walk into a trap if he has prior knowledge of it, well when anwar see "something", the like of saiful etc, he automatically become insane and will try his best to get it no matter what. that is what "he walked into it" all about.this is open secret mr karpal singh, do not delay the case any longer.if the moron is really innocent, why there is fear all around?

Wikileaks: Singapore Intelligence Services Agreed Anwar did it.

Anwar is first Malaysian ‘victim’ of Wikileaks

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has become the first Malaysian “victim” of WikiLeaks.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported Sunday that leaked US state department cable revealed that Singaporean intelligence officials told their Australian counterparts that Anwar had engaged in the conduct for which he was accused of, and that his sodomy charges were the result of a “set-up job”.
However, the Opposition Leader tweeted his comments later Sunday, saying: “Source? Polis SB Msia. Bukti tak ada (Who is the source? Malaysian police special branch. There’s no proof of any such thing)”.
According to the Herald, the cable, dated November 2008, was one of several that dealt with the explosive private views of senior Singaporean officials.
Issued to Fairfax newspapers by WikiLeaks, the cable stated, “The Australians said that Singapore’s intelligence services ... told [the Office of National Intelligence] in their exchanges that [Mr Anwar] ‘did indeed commit the acts for which he is currently indicted’.’’
It added that the Singaporeans told the office they made this assessment on the basis of “technical intelligence’’ which most likely meant intercepted communications.
The office also said that Anwar’s political enemies had engineered the circumstances from which the sodomy charges arose.
‘’[The office] assessed, and their Singapore counterparts concurred, ‘it was a set-up job and he probably knew that, but walked into it anyway’,’’ the cable stated, according to the paper.

tunku : there's no doubt, anwar has been doing it(sodomy act). it is in his blood.most of the people who are close to him knew this, even the wife knew it but pretend that the husband is saint. people like hadi awang knew it too, that is why hadi awang never comments on anwar's sodomy charges.

Pakatan can't even have a common logo?

Pakatan unlikely to have common logo

GEORGE TOWN: It is unlikely that the three parties in Pakatan Rakyat will come out with a common logo for the next general election, PAS central committee member Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa said.
He said it was difficult as Pakatan needed to be registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) first and with just three parties in the alliance, the application might not be approved.
Since 2008, Pakatan has failed to register itself as a political entity similar to the Barisan Nasional coalition because the group only had three parties while a minimum of seven was required by the ROS.
This has made the loosely- based alliance to often run foul of Election Commission rules during by-elections, when all three parties put up their respective flags and banners instead of only the contesting party.
Dr Mujahid said a status quo was likely for the three parties in the group when they contest in the next general election.
Many have speculated that the elections will be held next year.
“We would likely see PAS, PKR and DAP using their own respective logos in campaign materials and on ballot papers.
“I do not think it is a setback as most voters know who we are,” he told a press conference yesterday.
On the upcoming Pakatan convention, Dr Mujahid said Pakatan would send 1,800 delegates, consisting of 600 each from the three components while 200 places had been allocated to non-governmental organisations, Pakatan-friendly individuals and observers, including the media.

tunku : these are all excuses.try to register first and if it is not approved then you said we can't get the approval.without doing anything they already started giving excuses.the main reason is they have different agendas, different visions and different thinking. these three idiots group that is pas,pkr dan dap is out there to fools people, thats all. how can they rule this country when simple things like this they can't decide? may be they can have the picture above as their common logo.

Nazri fan of namewee

Rapper Namewee not racist but "grossly misunderstood": Nazri

KUALA LUMPUR: Controversial rapper Namewee is not a racist but a young man who has been "grossly misunderstood" and misrepresented by the media.
"He has done nothing wrong which may be considered an offence under any laws in this country," Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz told a press conference at his office in Parliament here Thursday.
The rapper, whose name is Wee Meng Chee, was also present.
Wee had previously made a video, using obscene language, criticising a headmistress in Kulaijaya who allegedly made racist remarks during a school assembly on Aug 12.
Although many were upset that no action was taken against Wee over the clip, Nazri said he had looked into the case and agreed with the Attorney-General's Chambers that Wee had not committed any chargeable offence.
"The only person who can take any action against him is the headmistress as she is the only aggrieved party," he said.
Nazri added that Wee was not even a politician and should not be "dragged into something that he didn't want to be involved in at the first place".
"He's only interested in music and how it can spread messages to his peers," Nazri said.
"He has explained to me what he has done and I think he has potential. If we can help him, he will be able to become an artiste one day," he added.
Nazri said Wee fully supported the 1Malaysia concept propagated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
On Wee wanting to meet Najib after being denied funds by the National Film Development Corporation (Finas) to make a 1Malaysia-themed movie, Nazri said he would inform the Prime Minister about the matter during the Cabinet meeting Friday.
Wee later read out a statement to the press, saying he was a patriotic Malaysian and expressing regret that the mainstream media had highlighted his controversial videos, instead of others which showed his love for the country.
"I admit that some of the videos are controversial but I have no intention of hurting anybody's feelings. If I have offended anybody, please accept my apology," he said, adding that he had no political agenda.

tunku : bravo nazri....you are the best minister in najib's cabinet. we hope the people will show their love to you in this coming GE. i just wish the people will spit on his face. we hope najib will not see this idiot namewee , do not anger the people.just shut nazri's mouth before he opens it to talk to you about namewee.

Sodomy Case: Anwar Brings Independent Australian MP Who Supports Gay Marriage To Be Observer

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 (Bernama) -- Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has brought Independent MP Senator Nick Xenophon from Southern Australia to be an observer at his ongoing sodomy trial.
Introducing the MP to the media at Parliament's lobby Wednesday, Anwar said besides witnessing the trial, Xenophon would also be having discussions with Malaysian Opposition MPs and community leaders.
"...but since the trial has been postponed due to our application to recuse High Court Judge Datuk Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah from continuing to preside over the case, he decided to be here in Parliament to observe some proceedings and also hold discussions," Anwar said.
Xenophon, who was among 50 Australian lawmakers who had called for the sodomy charge against Anwar to be dropped in February, said the trial was being followed closely by the world community.

tunku : who else can support a sodomizer if not the people from the same circle.nick xenophon is also anwar's type. it is a big shame that anwar can only have supports from these groups.may be nick will have a "good time" with anwar during this trial.

Perak Sultan Regrets Malays Questioning Special Status

KUALA KANGSAR, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah said that questioning the status of Islam and the special rights of the Malays in this country were actions that disregarded history and were in conflict with the Federal Constitution.
The Sultan said if the Malays themselves questioned these, they had actually insulted and were traitors to their own race.
"The legacy of the Malay Rulers was part of the agreement that formed the basis for formulating the constitution after independence. The Malay Rulers who sit on their thrones today are not just inheriting the power to rule but also the responsibilities towards Islam and the Malay race, ensuring that the legacy continues."
Speaking at the launching of the state-level Ma'al Hijrah celebration at the Kolej Islam Darul Ridzuan hall here, the Sultan quoted some wise sayings to remind the Malays not to commit actions that would be wasteful or disadvantageous for their own community.
"It would be most unfortunate for the race and religion if real history is erased and the facts altered.
"If this is allowed to go on, it would be pointless to regret if one day the Malays find themselves marginalised and Islam relegated to the periphery."
The Sultan said the Malay Muslims should learn from the fall of the Islamic empire; the defeat of the Muslim army in several wars due to disunity among the Muslims themselves.
"Be aware that the special rights of the Malay Muslims in this country were the result of strategic thinking to ensure continued protection for them and these rights are guaranteed by statutes, and that Islamic activities could flourish and receive state funding."
The Sultan also reminded Muslims to use the Ma'al Hijrah celebration as an occasion for some soul-searching so as not to repeat mistakes, to reduce egoism and to seek divine guidance to the blessed path.
At the function, the Sultan also presented the Perak Tokoh Maal Hijrah 1432 award to Megat Riduan Megat Taib, 76, a former principal assistant director of the Education Division, Perak Islamic Religious Department.
Megat Riduan had also been instrumental in setting up integrated Quran and Fardhu Ain classes with the Sekolah Agama Rakyat in the state.

tunku : the malays should realize that all the privileges they have been getting won't last if they let leaders like anwar and others in pakatan rule this country.before they can rule, they already talking about changing the constitution.these traitors can only harm the nation.the non malays too should not take this thing as an advantage to them because if the majority(malays) in a country is not taken care off then the country will not be stable. this will bring chaos in the country.we don't want this to happen in malaysia. the constitution have been fair to all and we should respect it.do not listen to some politicians that just crazy for power. for them the nation come last, they come first.we should reject them once for all.

Khir Toyo quits as S'gor Opposition leader

SHAH ALAM: Former Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo has relinquished his post as state Opposition Leader with immediate effect.
Dr Khir, who is a state Umno liaison committee member, wrote in his blog www.drkhir.com Monday that he would leave it to the leadership to decide on his position in the party.
"If it is too much of a trouble, I am willing to step down but as an assemblyman, I will continue to discharge my duties on any platform until the court decides (on my case)," he said.
He was charged in the Sessions Court here Monday with graft over two plots of land in Section 7 here and pleaded not guilty. - Bernama

tunku : it is the best decision by dr khir.if he stays as opposition leader, his credibility will be questioned in the dun.the best is for him to get on with the court case and clear things out.dr khir is a brave leader who does not put power as his priority.when BN lost selangor, he took the blame and resign as BN and Umno state chief.now that he has chance for himself to clear his name in the court once and for all.not like the moron anwar ibrahim, though he has the court case of SODOMY charge, he still insist of holding position.he should be ashamed.

Najib: Opposition leadership is anti-national

KUALA LUMPUR: The leadership of the opposition parties are actually struggling to achieve certain objectives to gain power and are bound to resolving their personal problems to the extent that they are prepared to deceive the people, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said. The Prime Minister said that based on this reality, the people and leaders of Barisan Nasional must be wary because the opposition leaders were prepared to do anything to achieve their objectives including tarnishing Malaysia's image abroad.
"Beware everyone, they are very dangerous. I want to point out here, they are anti-national.
"We must go all out and ensure that this country is not destroyed by their evil activities," he said at the Barisan Nasional Convention.
Najib, who Barisan chairman, said the efforts by the opposition parties to try and emulate the Barisan in terms of cooperation involving all the component parties representing the various races were pointless because they did not have the formula for sincerity, vision and values that were shared together.
"Just look at the PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat), from their line-up of seven top leadership, only one represents the Chinese.
"Meanwhile, the Indians who represent their second largest membership with more than 20% of the total, do not have even one representative at the top party level," he said.
Najib said the opposition parties also tried to emulate Umno by introducing a new type of election for their leadership to the extent that the opposition parties were becoming uncomfortable and chaotic.
"We understand that they are following the English saying 'imitation is the best form of flattery'.
"It is very obvious, whenever we make political changes and reforms which are internal in nature, it scares them to the extent that they become chaotic and want to copy.
"The lesson here is that when other people want to copy, certainly what we are doing is correct," he said.
Najib also touched on the integrity of the opposition parties that was actually being doubted by the party members themselves.

tunku : no doubt the pakatan will destroyed this country by their evil activities.they do not have same objective, they have separate agendas.parties with different agendas will never be able to rule a country with stability both politically and economically.the country will be in chaotic situation.the people should reject them.

BN component parties should not postpone party election.

BN component parties to postpone party election?

KUALA LUMPUR, Saturday 4 December 2010 (Bernama) -- As Umno, Barisan Nasional's biggest component party, has decided to postpone its party election scheduled next year to up to 18 months, the grapevine has it that several component parties might follow suit.
Gerakan is one of them. The party is scheduled to hold its party election next year.
"The CC (Gerakan Central Committee) will meet on Dec 18 to discuss this matter. Before that, the CWC (Central Working Committee) will also discuss this matter," its deputy president Datuk Chang Ko Youn told Bernama.
He said Gerakan had postponed its party election once in 2007, due to the 12th General Election which was held in early March 2008, and the party election was only carried out after that.
"There are different views on this matter but generally, some leaders felt it is better for the party to postpone its election to minimise infighting. If there is party election next year, everyone will be fighting for positions, right from the division up to the central leadership.
"That's why, we believe, it is better for us to postpone the party election so that everyone can focus on the general election, which will be very crucial for the party's revival," he said.
For the MCA, the second largest component party in the coalition, the party election next year will be carried out on schedule, unless the party's powerful decision-making body, the central committee, decides otherwise.
Secretary-General Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said: "The party election is still on schedule... there is no plan so far, to defer the party election.
"However, the CC still has the final say. If we want to postpone the party election, there is a certain requirement we have to address first before we can do that," he said.
MCA Central Committee member Datuk Ti Lian Ker explained that under the party constitution, the party election could only be postponed if there was a general election and that too, it could only be postponed for a certain period.
"Moreover, under the constitution, we can't simply postpone our party election as there is a certain provision which states that it can only be postponed after three and half years from the date of the last general election.
Technically, we can only do that by next September," he said.
Ti said it was still too early for the party leadership to decide on the matter but some members believe the MCA Central Committee meeting on Dec 13 would provide some indication even though the matter was raised in the previous meeting.
In 2007, the MCA had postponed its party election at all levels until the general election concluded in March 2008, where Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat was elected president and Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, his deputy.
However, the party was embroiled in internal crisis until a fresh poll, only for top or central leadership, was held in March this year where Dr Chua was elected the new president.
Next year, the party still has to undergo election at all levels for a new term of three years as the March fresh poll for top leadership only meant for the remaining period of the current term which will end next October.
However, it is not issues for the majority of the BN component parties, particulary from Sabah and Sarawak, as they have undergone their respective party elections this year, except for the Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) which is scheduled to have its election at the end of next year.
"We do not have any plan to postpone it. Not a problem for us as the state election needs to be held before July next year. Our party's election, especially at branch level, will only start after that. It doesn't really affect us," SUPP president Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam told Bernama here today.

tunku : i think the BN component parties are making mistake by postponing their party election.they should carry out the election earlier instead of postponing it. this will ensure that the new leadership are truly accepted by the grassroots and will able to form a strong machinery for the coming GE.the government should not have the GE next year, they can have it at the end of their term that is 2013.there's no urgent in having election.there is still much reform needed both for politics and economics. hope the BN component parties especially Umno should reconsider not to postpone their party election.everyone knows that kj is not accepted at the grassroot level.he will not be able to carry out his duty perfectly as youth chief where umno youth has the biggest challenge in their history to get the young voters to vote for them.

Indian groups fume over Selangor scholarships

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP elected representatives should be willing to accept constructive criticism from the public and address their weakness, former Hulu Selangor councillor K. A. Ramu said.
Speaking at a forum on discrimination against Indian students by the Selangor state government, he said the low number of study loans by the state government and the scholarships by Yayasan Selangor for Indian students was attributed to lack of information.
He said this should not be an excuse. “I envy MIC Youth as they are in Facebook and Twitter and information is disseminated to the community quickly,” he said.
Over 100 people attended the forum organised by MIC Youth and Indian-based organisations following the controversy that only four Indian students were given study loans by the state government last year.
There were only three Indians among the 1,571 who were given scholarships by Yayasan Selangor for 2008 and 2009.
Ramu said the state government should find out the reasons for not disbursing more study loans and scholarships to Indian students.
Wanita MIC CWC member M. Mohana said that nine out of 10 Indian students approached the party, to seek financial assistance to pursue their studies.
Malaysia Hindu Sangam former youth chief Arun Doraisamy suggested the formation of a research team to disseminate educational loan opportunities to Indian students.
Makkal Sakthi president R. Kannan called on the Selangot government to disseminate information on study loans and scholarships in all newspapers.
MIC youth secretary C. Sivarrajah said a memorandum would be handed to the Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim on Monday.

tunku : 2008 the promised moon and stars to the indian community and after the captured the state, what did the indians benefits from them?nothing. this is what you get when you elect a party that only knows how to oppose, how to create issues but don't know how to work and carry out their responsibilities.show them the way out comes the next election.

Kit Siang can be DPM if PR wins and policies not contradicted: Nik Aziz

KOTA BARU: PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat will accept the appointment of Lim Kit Siang as the Deputy Prime Minister if the opposition pact leads the country through the 13th general election.
Nik Abdul Aziz, who is also the Kelantan Mentri Besar, however, said the appointment of the DAP advisor should not contradict the conditions stipulated in the national policy and Islamic policy.
"For us, we consider the country as a democratic nation. So, we cannot look at a particular race.
"What is important is that we have to look at the policy (of the party that rules the country)," he told reporters after chairing the state exco meeting here Wednesday.
He said this when commenting on a hotly-debated statement by PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who proposed that Lim be appointed Deputy Prime Minister if the opposition pact were to win.
Nik Abdul Aziz said he was of the opinion that the opposition pact had the edge as it had PAS, an Islamic party that was responsible for reprimanding any party within the pact pertaining to matters on Islam.
Thus, the issue of any dispute if the opposition pact appointed a non-Muslim as the Deputy Prime Minister did not arise. - Bernama

tunku : nik aziz has over ruled his party president, hadi awang when commenting on this issue. hadi is against it and nik aziz is ok with it.nik aziz is making dap as their (pas) new direction. there's no more call for hudud law and islamic nation from pas.it is not their main agenda anymore.

Polls in March, Anwar predicts

KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has predicted that the general election will be held in March next year.
He called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to decide on a date to give ample time for preparations, since he had already indicated signs of an early election.
"I also call upon him for a transparent election and guarantee a free media to report fairly on contesting parties," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby here Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Najib said Umno elections scheduled for next year would be held back for 18 months to focus on strengthening the party.
The party president said there was no reason to get excited over the move.
"We have done this before. There is nothing peculiar," he said, adding that the postponement was provided for in the party constitution.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Wednesday the postponement of Umno elections was not a sign of snap polls.
He reiterated the Prime Minister's statement that the decision by the Umno supreme council was made merely to strengthen the party.
"The media can speculate. As for the party, it is an appropriate move because, according to party procedure, branches will begin elections next year.
"If such a decision is not made, there'll be heavy campaigning that will affect the position of the party," he said, responding to a question on whether the decision to delay Umno polls indicated an early general election.
"What is important is the decision was made to ensure there is no juggling of positions in Umno. Now we focus on strengthening the party," he said after chairing the 66th National Land Council meeting in the Parliament building here.

tunku : how can you listen to a man that had lied to the whole world that he has the numbers and will conquer Putrajaya on 16th september 2008? anwar wants a free media report, can he make sure that all the pro opposition medias gives free and fair reports about the government? this moron can't be trusted and those who believes him comes under the moron category.for the election dates, he demanded that PM Najib to decide on the date to give ample time for preparations for them, well if you already predicted it in march, why you want the date? go ahead and do all your necessary preparation from now,MORON.

Tun Mahathir Praises Najib's Leadership

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 (Bernama) -- Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has praised the administration of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak upon receiving feedback and opinion from outsiders on matters pertaining to the country.
He said the receptiveness from the current administration had led to a better-shaped policy which eased everyone on sharing and expressing their thoughts which resulted better support from the public.
"I must confess that Najib and the administration is quite open, in this sense. When they need to get consultation from anybody, they will do so, and I have also given my opinion on certain occasions, for example the transformation process," he said during the question and answer (Q&A) session after delivering his keynote address at the Malaysia-Europe Forum (MEF), here Tuesday.
However, responding to a question, Dr Mahathir reiterated that he had no plans to make a comeback and he would continue giving opinions and criticisms through his blog.
"For me, to come back and be directly involved is out of the question. Once I'm out, I would not come back. I just hope that they would read my blog..that's as far as I can go," he said.
Responding to a question about the people's perception on the 1Malaysia concept, Dr Mahathir noted that the national unity concept could only be achieved once the people identified themselves as Malaysians.
He said the concept was formally targeted during the launching of Vision 2020 which he announced in 1991.
"In Vision 2020, which I delivered in 1991, the first item that we wanted to achieve was national unity. The concept could be achieved if all Malaysians forget their past, speak one language, and identify themselves as Malaysians.
"Today, I found that people are still talking 'I'm a Chinese Malaysian, Malay Malaysian, Indian Malaysian which make the interpretation of 1Malaysia very difficult for people of different races," he said.
Speaking on the government's Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), Dr Mahathir said Malaysia should support more local industries to help them generate a stronger financial income.
Citing Korea and Japan for example, Dr Mahathir said those countries should be emulated on how they improved and developed their own financial integrity without depending too much on foreign direct investments (FDI).
"What they (Japan and Korea) did was acquiring foreign resources and technology and at the same time improved their own technology and grew into giant corporations. But in Malaysia, we allowed foreigners to come here and benefited from the low cost of labour.
"The time has come to change. We should support local industry. We have given incentives to foreign companies, why don't we just give to local companies?" he said.
The forum themed "Looking Back In Order To Move Forward" was held to ensure that Malaysia and Europe had mutual understanding of their respective policies, particularly on the question of investment.
It was attended by 250 people including businessmen, government officials, academicians and representatives of student organisations in the country and abroad.

Will allegations of malpractice affect PKR in general election?

PETALING JAYA: When Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the recent party polls, beset by allegations of irregularities and malpractices, would not affect the party's chances in the next general election, it drew mixed response from political analysts and some party members.
His contention is that the party had done everything possible to rectify flaws in the direct elections system implemented for the first time and therefore, would not affect its performance in the next general election.
However, political observers believe the fiasco that saw the party's Federal Territory chief Datuk Zaid Ibrahim pulling out of the contest for the deputy presidency over alleged voting irregularities before resigning from the party would affect their chances in the next general election.
"For me, I believe to a certain extent, malpractices certainly affect the party, not just trust among the supporters but also the trust of those outside the party, particulary the fence-sitters who are watching this election closely," said political analyst in Universiti Sains Malaysia, Dr Sivamurugan Pandian.
"I believe those who lost in the election will certainly show their anger and frustration, because they lost due to the system," he added.
Dr Sivamurugan also noted that the unofficial party election results showed that they were losing the Indian votes.
"If they do not have Indians being elected for the party vice-president post, the party can even appoint one of its Indian leaders to be a vice-president.
"The party has 33 percent Indian supporters. The results would somehow affect the party. Maybe, the perception among urban voters about the PKR tussle will not change, but not among the rural voters," he said.
He said some quarters within the party itself had began asking whether Anwar was a legitimate leader as they were already questioning why Anwar, who is the Opposition Leader in Parliament, did not contest as party president.
"Anwar now has to focus on how to restore the confidence and trust since the party is facing its biggest challenge since the 2008 General Election. How he is going to pacify those who had lost in the party elections to continue to support the party?" he asked.
Even their own counterpart in the Opposition pact did not turn a blind eye to what was happening in PKR's party election when senior Selangor exco member and DAP leader Teresa Kok openly reminded DAP members in Selangor not to emulate PKR.
However, other political analysts believed that what happened during the PKR election had little impact on the level of support towards the party, depending on when the general election would be called.
"It won't affect PKR. It depends on when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is going to call for the general election. It will only affect PKR in the short term but not in the long term," said political analyst in Monash University Prof James Chin.
"The reason is very simple, Malaysians have short memories. Malaysians are easily distracted by political scandal," he said.
However, Chin opined that the party's biggest challenge was whether the party number two or those elected as deputy president had enough political weight to take over the party presidency.
"The question remains...whether, whoever elected as number two has enough political weight to take over as number one, in the event that Anwar goes to jail as a result of his (current) sodomy trial.
"That is the biggest challenge PKR faces, not the number of votes a candidate gets," he reasoned.

State funeral for Chong Eu on Sunday

Public can pay respects in Dewan Sri Pinang from Friday

GEORGE TOWN: Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu's body will lie in state at Dewan Sri Pinang from Friday until Sunday for members of the public to pay their last respects. Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said the funeral Sunday would be held in accordance with federal protocol in cooperation with the state government.
"The family members and funeral committee will be consulted on the matter," said Dr Koh, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, who paid his last respects at noon Thursday.
The cortege will leave for the Batu Gantung crematorium at noon on Sunday, according to funeral committee member Tan Sri Khoo Kay Por.
"The casket will be placed here (at the house) until 11am tomorrow (Friday) after which the public can pay their last respects at Dewan Sri Pinang from noon," the former Penang Gerakan chairman told newsmen at Dr Lim’s house in Tanjung Bungah here Thursday.
Dr Lim, Gerakan founder, former Penang Chief Minister and a giant in Malaysian politics, died in his house at 9.07pm Wednesday, after a stroke about a month ago. He was 91 and was earlier taken home from Penang Hospital, where he had been warded.
Rapid Penang will provide three free shuttle buses from Tanjung Club, Penang Swinming Club and Sandy Bay to the house for those wishing to attend the wake, starting at 4pm Thursday.
Dr Lim's son, Chien Aun, said the family was still waiting for the state government to provide details of the state funeral for his father.
"We have spent two to three days with him and it is only fair that we allow the state to take over tomorrow to give the public a chance to pay their respects," he said.
Funeral committee member Datuk Oon Choo Khye said a meeting would be held Thursday night for the final arrangements.
"Schools, non-governmental organisations or large groups wishing to pay their last respects at Dewan Sri Pinang must call the hotline (04-8902828) to register, due to the large crowd expected," he said.

tunku : may he rest in peace.i had a very little knowledge about Tun Lim's contributions till i read Tun Mahathir's blog about him. that is why history is very important lesson that every Malaysian should know by heart.my deepest condolence to Tun Lim's family.it is indeed a great lost for the nation.

PKR polls problems won’t affect Pakatan’s chances in next GE: Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Rakyat's chances in the next general election will not be affected by the alleged problems in the recent PKR polls, says Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said he did not think the polls would be a challenge for the coalition as action was already taken to rectify problems in the direct elections system implemented in PKR and they were transparent in their actions.
Anwar was responding to speculation that the Barisan Nasional may use the alleged problems in the PKR polls to gain support from voters in the next general election.
"I think they are just using as many issues as they can (against us)," he told a press conference attended by various Pakatan leaders at the Parliament building Wednesday.
"We have many veteran leaders such as DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali who are so used to such situations. So I think we are ready," Anwar said.
Asked if the distribution of seats was being planned, he said that Pakatan's preparations at the current stage were focused on strengthening its understanding on issues such as those in Sabah and Sarawak.
"We will deal with the seat distribution later," he added.
PAS deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa said Pakatan was gearing up for the general election starting with a programme with the rakyat in Penang on Dec 18 and the coalition's convention on the next day.
"The programmes that we will be planning are to do with the strengthening of Pakatan as an alternative to the present Government," he said.
He said although several issue have cropped up in the component parties, the coalition will continue to raise issues plaguing the rakyat.

tunku : this is what you call denial syndrome.however this denial syndrome by anwar is good for BN.keep denying anwar but the people knows well how you had failed to control your own party.how can a person who can't even control his party lead the nation.it will be disaster.the nation will be in chaos.let show him the boot comes the election.

People No Longer Trust Anwar, Says Dr Mahathir

KEMAMAN, Nov 23 (Bernama) -- Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the international community are beginning to doubt Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and as such the government should not worry or prevent him from going abroad to prevent the opposition leader from continuing to insult Malaysia.
Furthermore, said the former prime minister, if Anwar were prevented from going abroad, it would create anger against the government, and the government would be facing various allegations.
"We should not prevent him from going abroad. I don't think we should be scared of him. (If) we do that, people will be more angry with us, hate the government. Then, people will say all kinds of things against the government.
"It's all right, I think the other people too no longer trust him, who wants to believe. To me, I don't care. They are not the ones who will be voting, the voters are the people here," he told reporters after visiting the Eastern Pacific Industrial Corporation (Epic) Berhad, at the Kemaman Supply Base, Teluk Kalong Industrial Area, here Tuesday.
Dr Mahathir earlier gave a lecture entitled "Challenges Faced by Muslims Currently" at the Diamond Hall, Kemaman Municipal Council, organised by the Terengganu Development Institute in collaboration with the Terengganu Community Development Agency, attended by almost 5,000 civil servants and members of the community in the area.
Also present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said and his wife, Toh Puan Norliza Mahmud and State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Tengku Putera Tengku Awang.
During the debate at the Dewan Rakyat yesterday, several backbenchers suggested that Anwar be barred from going abroad to prevent him from continuing to criticise Malaysia.
Commenting further, Dr Mahathir said the more often Anwar went abroad to criticise his own country, the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor would create a more negative image for himself.
Dr Mahathir said it was time that PKR supporters and members joined Umno because it was proven that the PKR was created merely for the interest of certain individuals instead of championing the interest of the people.
He said the party should be dissolved immediately because its existence would only divide the Malays and Muslims in the country.
"Whoever is responsible for dividing the Muslims should be totally rejected instead of making him a leader to the extent that he would create problems among the Muslims themselves.
"Muslims should unite in a mammoth party (Umno) which had been playing its role all this while to develop the country and champion the cause of the people.
"Surely we don't want a leader who does not know how to serve the people but only wants to become a Prime Minister," he said.
Dr Mahathir also said that the success of the Barisan Nasional in the by-elections in Galas, in Kelantan and Batu Sapi in Sabah recently should not be used as a yardstick for the government to hold a general election in the near future.
He said the Barisan Nasional government still had a lot of time to plan a strategy to win the support of the people so that more people would return to the party.
"Our victory in a particular area cannot be used as a measure (of support). Are the factors for the BN victory in that area the same as in the other areas?
"So, I think the leadership knows about this matter," he said.
On talks that the 13th general election might be held simultaneously with the Sarawak state election next year, Dr Mahathir said the peninsula had a lot of time and there was no need to rush and have the elections at the same time.
"If I were the Prime Minister, I would wait first," he said.
He said Sarawak had no choice because it must hold the state election next year when the mandate for the present government ended.
"But here, we have a choice," he added

tunku : people now knows that anwar is a chameleon which changes its colour that suits its surrounding except for his fool supporters and those who are using him to gain power like dap and pas.Tun Mahathir is right, we should not stop anwar from going abroad , let him bark till he drop dead, no one will listen to him anymore except for his jewish connection.

Sultan Johor Calls For Bridge To Replace Causeway

JOHOR BAHARU, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- Sultan Ibrahim of Johor today called for a new bridge to replace the causeway to Singapore.
Speaking at the investiture ceremony to mark his 52nd birthday here, he said the bridge would be convenient for people travelling to Singapore and back and encourage tourists from the neighbouring country.
"I appreciate that the government is caring and constantly striving to tackle problems facing the people. However, there is one wish of the people of Johor that has yet to be fulfilled, and that is for a bridge to replace the causeway," he said at Istana Besar (the main palace).
Replacing the causeway would enable water at the strait to flow unhindered and at the same time improve the environment, he added.
Present at the ceremony were his consort, Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, Tunku Temenggong Idris Iskandar and President of the Johor Royal Council Johor Tunku Osman Tunku Temenggong Ahmad.
Also at the ceremony were Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman and his wife, Datin Prof Jamilah Ariffin, state executive councillors and assemblymen and senior government officials.
The Sultan urged the people to live in a spirit of give and take and moderation, and to respect one another without regard to race in line with the johor government's motto "Muafakat Itu Berkat (Consensus Is a Blessing)."
He said that community leaders should strive to unite the people and emphasise the common good rather than individual or political interests.
"In Johor, the people, regardless of whether they are Malays, Indians or Chinese, are all citizens of my state. The rights and interests of everyone will be protected. So do not rake up the past that might cause dissatisfaction and arouse suspicion," he said.
The Sultan advised the people to seize the opportunities resulting from rapid development in the state, including jobs being offered in the Iskandar Malaysia development region.
He also announced the establishment of Yayasan Sultan Ibrahim which will give scholarships to poor students and medical and other assistance to senior citizens and the disabled.
He said the foundation would be funded by the royal allowance that he received.
The Sultan conferred the titles "Duli Yang Maha Mulia" on Raja Zarith Sofiah and "Yang Amat Mulia Enche Besar" on his mother, Hajah Khalsom Abdullah.
He also conferred on Hajah Kalsom "Darjah Kerabat Pangkat Pertama", the highest state award, and "Pangkat Pertama Datuk Seri Setia Sultan Ismail Johor" on Tunku Temenggong Ismail.

tunku : this is the second time Sultan Ibrahim had requested the government to build the bridge to replace the causeway.if it was not because of the sleepy head pak lah, the bridge had replaced the causeway by now.he is to be blamed for this.najib should start the project again without any delays.follow the original plan, we do not need the concern from singapore.we build it own our side.come on najib, fulfilled the wishes of the johoreans and its Sultan.

PKR Jenapala’s group protests Anwar’s special relationship with Azmin

PETALING JAYA: Former PKR deputy secretary-general P. Jenapala’s second protest rally at the party’s headquarters saw 300 of his supporters rallying against the “special relationship” between party adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and vice-president Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Coming in 12 busses, Jenapala’s supporters from Selangor started gathering at 3:30pm, holding various banners.
About half-an-hour later, Jenapala ushered them to the parking lots opposite the headquarters entrance and handed banners including a few which read “Anwar loves Azmin. Take your love out of the party”.
Jenapala criticised the senior leadership of the party, blaming them for how the party elections had turned out.
“Our Putrajaya hopes have been slashed because of this. We urge the leaders to declare this party polls null and void,” he said.
“We love PKR but the leaders whom we used to love have gone astray from where we begun,” he added.
Jenapala said 162 complaints had been made in relation to the matter but were not entertained by the party.
“We have been patient for too long. Without us, your dream to Putrajaya will not come true,” he said.
He was accompanied by former Kota Raja division chief, KS Kotappan and a Selayang community leader Rajandran Batumalai, who contested the deputy division chief post in Selayang.
As the protest ended, Jenapala met with party central elections director Fuziah Salleh and strategic director Tian Chua, who were on their way to attend a meeting at the party headquarters.
They both advised Jenapala to resolve his problems with the party internally in the future.
Jenapala applied to the High Court to stop PKR from declaring any candidate as having been elected to the deputy president’s post.
The case will be heard Monday.

tunku : jenapala should stop urging anwar and azmin out from the party as it is impossible to happen. azmin is everything to anwar.the best for jenapala's group is to get out from pkr. pkr is proven to be a party that never walk the talk and full of empty promises. the indians in the party should realized by now that anwar had cheated them all these while. get out from the party or be fools forever in pkr.

Anwar Not Like Suu Kyi, Says US Writer

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should not equate himself with Myanmar's democracy activist Aung San Suu Kyi, said a writer of an American right-wing website.
Rachel Motte, writing in the New Ledger, an American web publication which publishes the right-of-centre opinions, said the equation should not have been made as Anwar's personal case was different from that of Suu Kyi's.
In addition, Malaysia's political landscape has little in common with Myanmar's, she said.
"If anyone has suffered for the cause of democracy, Suu Kyi has ... not Anwar Ibrahim, who has enjoyed the benefits of a trial, a team of lawyers, access to local, national and international media outlets, his own political party and the freedom to travel the globe.
"Anwar is no Aung San Suu Kyi. Indeed, his actions as the co-founder of a front organisation for the Global Muslim Brotherhood indicated that he is in fact opposed to the democratic ideals she has sacrificed so much for," Motte wrote.
The writer claimed that Anwar was using Suu Kyi's recent release to attract attention to his own political problems when speaking on social justice and democracy in Sydney, Australia, early this week.

tunku : anwar is not even the level of suu kyi's shoes.he's lower than that.the writer is right, anwar has all the freedom, all the special assistance from local and abroad.he has more than 7 lawyers representing him in his SODOMY trial with worldwide coverage.how dare he compare himself, a sodomizer to a noble person like suu kyi.he is just a moron that is losing grip in his own party.

Anwar in Australia to sell himself.

Regional Security Agenda Eclipses Anwar's Plan, Says Home Minister

PUTRAJAYA, 18 Nov (Bernama) -- Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said that Malaysia's regional security effort eclipses any anti-government agenda that opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is trying to sell Australia.
He said that Malaysia was working closely with Australia to curb human trafficking and violent crime that was crossing borders.
He understood that the Australian Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, during her recent visit, had thanked Malaysia for checking human trafficking and other criminal activities that could jeopardise her country's security.
"Our efforts are duly recognised and they hope to see our (regional security) agenda enlarged," Hishammuddin told reporters here after receiving Ambassador at Large for Human Trafficking in Persons Luis CdeBaca.
"What Anwar Ibrahim is raising in Australia... people can assess for themselves if it is for his own self interest, if it is of political consideration or if it is narrow thinking," he said.
He was asked to comment on a statement by Anwar reported in the Sydney Morning Post that the death of Teoh Beng Hock, former political secretary of a Selangor executive counsellor, was "a case of murder that cannot be answered."
"He can besmirch his own country, but what has he done to make it better or strengthen it. I am more interested in looking forward, to build something that will determine the survival, status, harmony and security of the region.
"If asked to choose, I am sure the Australian leaders will pick the agenda that is bigger," Hishammuddin said.
Responding to a question, he said:" If he (Anwar) is not (desperate), he won't be there. Also, he wants to draw attention away from the problems of his party. That is usually his modus operandi."
Hishammuddin noted that Australia had a hung parliament and wondered why "somebody like Anwar Ibrahim would go to Australia to try and governise a port when the parliament is divided."
"If that is not desperation I cannot explain what objective he has in running down his own country," he added.

tunku : anwar is truly desperate as all his foreign contacts are running away from him, even clinton did n ot met him recently in kl.she just made a phone call. he is the number one traitor of this country.he can even sell this country just to be in power.malaysian should not be fooled by this moron.how can he manage this country when he can't even manage pkr? i think the government is too soft on this moron.

Namewee Show In Kuantan Cancelled

KUANTAN, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- A show of the controversial rap singer Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, at an entertainment centre here on Saturday has been cancelled following objections from many quarters.
The owner of the entertainment centre, who only wanted to be known as Wong, confirmed that the show would not be held and said there had been a misunderstanding.
He said the organiser of the show had approached him to rent the premises for an artiste of his and offered to pay a high rental.
He said he had not asked who the artiste was but found out that it was Namewee when a banner was hung up at the premises on Monday.
Soon after, he said, more than 30 non-governmental organisations in Pahang objected to the show by Namewee who had raised controversy for belittling the national anthem "Negaraku" over the Internet in 2007 and insulting a teacher and the Education Ministry more recently.
Wong said he was also advised by the police and the Kuantan Municipal Council to cancel the show.
A check by Bernama revealed that the entertainment centre had put up a banner announcing the cancellation of the show.
Meanwhile, in Temerloh, Pahang Umno Youth stated its strong objection to the show, saying it feared it could spark off undesirable incidents.
Its head, Abu Jimmi Samat, said there was nothing racial to the objection but it was raised because Namewee had hurt the feelings of the people before.
"We want an entertainer who has noble values and can serve as an idol for all races," he said.

tunku : there should not have cancelled the show.the show must go on and let see whether this namewee is brave enough to face the consequences. wherever he goes there will be his special "fan" that will follow him. good for him.

PAS prepared to accept Zaid as member

KUALA LUMPUR: PAS will always open its door to former members of other political parties, including former PKR Federal Territory chief Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.
Party vice-president Datuk Husam Musa said PAS had previously offered Zaid a place in the party but Zaid preferred to be with PKR.
"He (Zaid) is in a position to join any party... we did invite him to join PAS before but he declined, so it's up to him now," Husam said on Bernama TV's Hello Malaysia programme here Monday.
Zaid, a former minister in the Prime Minister's department, had on Nov 8 made the shocking decision to quit all his party posts and withdraw from the contest for the deputy president's post, citing cheating in the party elections as his reason.
He also called on PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and its vice-president Mohamed Azmin Ali to withdraw from the party, blaming them for the problems in PKR.

tunku : zaid will go no where if he joins pas, he will never be elected to the top post in the party. dap will be a better option for him as he will get something there but when you think about it, will anwar allow pas or dap to accept zaid ibrahim? it is best for zaid to form a new party that will cater for all the frustrated and desperate politicians who don't get any top position in their current party. may be he should invite kj to join him to form a new party.

Azizan going crazy.

Several Media Organisations Barred From Covering State Assembly Sitting

ALOR SETAR, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- Several media organisations were not allowed to cover the Kedah State Legislative Assembly sitting beginning today until Tuesday.
Sunday, several journalists from the organisation that had been barred from entering the Wisma Darulaman building to cover the official opening of the State Assembly sitting by the Sultan of Kedah tried to enter the building to cover the proceedings but were stopped by security guards at the entrance.
The state government only allowed journalists from Bernama as well as The Star, Sinar Harian, Harakah, Sin Chew Daily, China Press, Kwong Hwa Jit Poh, Guan Ming Daily, Oriental Daily, Nan Yang Siang Pau, Makkal Osai and Malaysian Nanban to cover the three-day sitting.
The letter informing the list of the media allowed to cover the sitting, signed by the Press Secretary to the Menteri Besar, Muhamad Helmi Mohamed Khalid, was sent to all the media organisations in the country on Thursday following what was claimed as "manipulation by the media against the Kedah state government lately".
Apart from the mainstream media, journalists from Malaysiakini were also not allowed to enter the building although the organisation was not in the list of the media barred from making coverage.

tunku : azizan has gone mad.there is no manipulation by the media lately against the state government but instead they highlighted the failure of the state government to handle the flood crisis recently.they should accept that they had failed miserably and should not show their anger against the media. this people can't take criticism at all.the people of kedah will surely show their dissatisfaction comes next election.

Selangor Sultan Not Attending Selangor Foundation's 40th Anniversary Celebration

SHAH ALAM, Nov 12 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has declined to attend a function to commemorate Selangor Foundation's 40th anniversary, State Secretary Datuk Ramli Mahmud said.
He said the Sultan had initially agreed to attend the function with the hope that his presence would inject new spirit for the staff at the foundation and in appreciation of their efforts in helping to improve the performance of students from less fortunate families in the rural areas in Selangor.
"However, the Sultan is shocked and very sad after being informed of the high cost of the function," he told a media conference Friday.
The function was planned to be held on Nov 15 at the Tun Dr Ismail Hostel, Kampung Pandan, Kuala Lumpur.
He said the Sultan had suggested that the foundation organised a lunch, which would be cheaper, instead of a dinner, but it was not heeded by the foundation.
Asked on the cost involved, Ramli said it was more than RM300,000.
The Sultan felt that the money could be put to better use if used for education and the welfare of the less fortunate students which was in line with the vision, mission and objective of the establishment of the Selangor Foundation, he added.

tunku : a foundation that was established to help the needies using RM300000 for a lunch function.Bravo khalid ibrahim, keep spending money lavishly, after all it is not coming out from your pocket.he should be ashamed of himself as the foundation chairman.please do not use excuse that you don't know about it or what.if you don't know about it you should resign at once.DAULAT TUANKU.

Penang stops double tracking project over flood concerns

PENANG: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has issued a stop work order on MMC Gamuda JV's double-track project until the firm can guarantee that it will bear all cost arising from compensation due to floods.
The decision was made at the state exco meeting Friday following claims that the project in Kedah had worsened the flood situation there.
Lim said the stop work order would be lifted after the company provides a written guarantee that it would bear all costs resulting from losses due to flooding in Penang.
He said the state government also wanted Gamuda to dismantle the tracks that caused rain water to stagnate should flooding occur.

tunku : this guan eng is doing all his gangster act again.he keeps delaying the the double track project in penang. if he's sincere he should tell gamuda to take all the necessary action to avoid flooding caused by the project.the state government engineers can monitor the situation and make sure everything is in order.if gamuda do not follow the rules and procedures than only they take action.. the cause of flood can be because of something else not the project.the work should not be stopped.what a moron cm.

Anwar Challenged To Contest Against Zaid In PKR Elections

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11 (Bernama) -- Independent Member of Parliament for Kulim-Bandar Baharu Zulkifli Nordin Thursday challenged Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to contest for a party top post against Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.
Zulkifli said Anwar should take up the challenge if he really believed in the principles of democracy which he often harped about, and to leave it to the party members of decide.
"He (Anwar) talked about democracy, but he is not contesting (for a post) and he wants to be a leader. The time I had known him...I found him to be egoistic and could not be criticised.
"I challenge Anwar to contest against Zaid, one against one, if he's a real man...we see who'll win. But the list of party members must be cleaned up first to avoid any form of irregularities," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby here.
Zulkifli said the Opposition Leader did not practise democracy as he led the party without having to go through any party election.
On Zaid's proposal to set up a new Keadilan party, Zulkifli said he needed not do that as PKR would manipulate the matter besides accusing him of being an Umno tool.
On Monday, Zaid withdrew from contesting the PKR deputy president post, citing cheating and abuse of power in the party elections as the reasons.
Meanwhile, Zulkifli urged the Home Ministry to investigate the citizenship status of Beginda Anak Minda or Nor Azman Abdullah, whose son was reportedly caned by a teacher recently for bringing food that had pork sausage in it to school.
He said the ministry must find out how this man could have two different identities.
According to him, Nor Azman had contested on a PAS ticket for the Engkilili state seat using his Muslim name of Nor Azman Bin Abdullah or Beginda in the 2001 state election, and for the Kapit parliamentary seat, using the same name, in the 1999 general election. He lost badly in both elections to the BN candidates.

tunku : anwar is afraid of contesting that is why he put his wife there to be on the safe side.he is just like the usa, talks about democracy but never practice it in the true way.he is more than a dictator and zul is right, he can't be criticised.he''ll get mad and do anything to stay in power. anwar will never accept this challenge because he is born to be a coward.till today he had not sued ezam for telling the whole nation that he is a sodomizer and wan azizah herself told ezam about this.

Anwar, Azmin must go: Zaid

Memo to call off party elections to be submitted Tuesday

PETALING JAYA: PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and vice-president Azmin Ali must go, says Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, who pulled out of the party's deputy presidential race Monday.
He said Anwar and Azmin were the ones that caused problems in the party.
"They must go," he told a press conference here Tuesday, adding that Pakatan Rakyat needed a new leadership.
When asked who would be the right party president, he replied: "I will be a good leader."
He said the current PKR elections were in shambles.
Meanwhile, party vice-president Mustaffa Kamil Ayub said he has prepared a memorandum to call off party elections within 48 hours.
He said he would summit the memorandum to the party president Tuesday.
"If the party elections are not called off within 48 hours, we will take further action," Mustaffa said.
tunku : i think those who think pkr is a dumb party which it is should leave the party.there's no need to call for the moron and his blue eyed boy to leave the party. let them control pkr and destroy it. zaid should leave the party.pas will not accept zaid for sure , left dap as his best choice.may be zaid can replace lim kit siang in dap. go zaid go, go to dap.i wonder why dap and pas so stupid to make pkr as their boss when the party is upside down. wonder there's no capable leader in dap and pas that can take over as the leader of pakatan rakyat. they still need the sodomizer as their leader.what a shame.
