Sodomy Case: Anwar Brings Independent Australian MP Who Supports Gay Marriage To Be Observer

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 (Bernama) -- Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has brought Independent MP Senator Nick Xenophon from Southern Australia to be an observer at his ongoing sodomy trial.
Introducing the MP to the media at Parliament's lobby Wednesday, Anwar said besides witnessing the trial, Xenophon would also be having discussions with Malaysian Opposition MPs and community leaders.
"...but since the trial has been postponed due to our application to recuse High Court Judge Datuk Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah from continuing to preside over the case, he decided to be here in Parliament to observe some proceedings and also hold discussions," Anwar said.
Xenophon, who was among 50 Australian lawmakers who had called for the sodomy charge against Anwar to be dropped in February, said the trial was being followed closely by the world community.
