SEREMBAN, Dec 27 (Bernama) -- Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad said on Monday that his dream after being appointed chairman of the Federal Land Development Authority is to achieve all objectives the government set for Felda.
"I do not have a personal dream, I just want to achieve what was targeted by the government when it established Felda," he told Bernama when commenting on his appointment as Felda Chairman, effective Jan 1, 2011.
A statement from the Prime Minister's Office said Mohd Isa was appointed to the post based on the government's confidence in his ability to give excellent and effective service.
Mohd Isa, 61, succeeds Tan Sri Dr Mohd Yusoff Noor who has been appointed advisor to the minister in charge of Felda, also effective Jan 1.
He thanked the government for its trust and confidence in him, and pledged to discharge his responsibilities to the best of his ability.
Mohd Isa was Negeri Sembilan Mentri Besar for 22 years, from 1982 to 2004 before he became Minister of Federal Territories.
Mohd Isa, who was Umno vice-president, became the assemblyman of Bagan Pinang in the parliamentary constituency of Teluk Kemang, Negeri Sembilan, after winning a by-election on Oct 11 last year when he beat Zulkefly Mohamad Omar of PAS by a 5,435-vote majority.
