Azizan going crazy.

Several Media Organisations Barred From Covering State Assembly Sitting

ALOR SETAR, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- Several media organisations were not allowed to cover the Kedah State Legislative Assembly sitting beginning today until Tuesday.
Sunday, several journalists from the organisation that had been barred from entering the Wisma Darulaman building to cover the official opening of the State Assembly sitting by the Sultan of Kedah tried to enter the building to cover the proceedings but were stopped by security guards at the entrance.
The state government only allowed journalists from Bernama as well as The Star, Sinar Harian, Harakah, Sin Chew Daily, China Press, Kwong Hwa Jit Poh, Guan Ming Daily, Oriental Daily, Nan Yang Siang Pau, Makkal Osai and Malaysian Nanban to cover the three-day sitting.
The letter informing the list of the media allowed to cover the sitting, signed by the Press Secretary to the Menteri Besar, Muhamad Helmi Mohamed Khalid, was sent to all the media organisations in the country on Thursday following what was claimed as "manipulation by the media against the Kedah state government lately".
Apart from the mainstream media, journalists from Malaysiakini were also not allowed to enter the building although the organisation was not in the list of the media barred from making coverage.

tunku : azizan has gone mad.there is no manipulation by the media lately against the state government but instead they highlighted the failure of the state government to handle the flood crisis recently.they should accept that they had failed miserably and should not show their anger against the media. this people can't take criticism at all.the people of kedah will surely show their dissatisfaction comes next election.

That's always the case. If you are at fault and you refuse to admit, you always blame the others

I am Kedahan and effected by the flood recently. I praised PR Kedah government for their effort and assistance for flood victims. There is no reason to say that Kedah government not doing enough to help the people. Don't simply take blindly what media say.

So thanks to Johari Bahrom for his kindness. There no group can claim that other people not do their job. Everybody has done their part in helping flood victims.

We have now come one full circle. The Malaysian Snake is eating its own tail. That is why it is important that political parties should not repeat not be in control of business and more importantly the Media.

We have to learn this very quickly. Look at all the countries around us.Pakistan is a classic example. The media is on constant attack by the government of the day. The threat to the government is not going to come from the media per se but this urge by those in power in wanting to control the media.Even the more established new organisations have learnt very quickly to 'tie the hose where your boss , the person who controls the organisation, wants you to tie it even if you know that the horse will die there because of the prevailing harsh weather conditions.

I do not condone the action of the Government of Kedah. But sometime we must look at the mirror and ask ourselves what is the Government doing this. All religions , including Islam, have fairness as a fundamental principle in all and whatever we do.Even in a family that stays together does so on the basis of fairness of the head of the household. So does the state.

I hope that for the sake of the nation our leaders will stop looking at personal gains and try to run this country in accordance with the constitution and the rule of law and not rule by law.
