Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his deputy are to step in to solve the crisis in the coalition partner MIC.
Barisan deputy chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said they had to meet MIC's top leadership and discuss the next course of action for the party "to protect the image of the coalition."
"With the current situation, it seems that if we do not interfere, things will go out of control.
"We will meet with them and take the next action within the MIC constitution," he told a press conference after launching the new Bahasa Melayu Institute of Teacher Education on Thursday.
Muhyiddin said Barisan will also look into the notice (of re-elections for the top posts and several divisions) from the Registrar of Societies (RoS) before making any further decisions.
"It seems that the president of the party (Datuk Seri G. Palanivel) seems to be out of focus ... and I am not going to criticise and make it look out of control.
"But this is definately not good," said Muhyiddin.
