DAP made Dyana scapegoat, says Wee

DAP has made Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud a scapegoat for the party's defeat in the Teluk Intan parliamentary by-election, MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said.

He chided DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng who said she lost because she is a young Malay female.
Dr Wee said this was yet another of DAP's many contradictory and hypocritical acts.

"DAP has always claimed to be a multi ethnic party that gets the support from the young.

"It had also fielded young candidates, in their 20s and early 30s in the past and they had won," Wee pointed out, adding that he pitied 26-year-old Dyana Sofya for being blamed after she lost to Barisan Nasional's Datuk Mah Siew Keong, 53, by a 238 vote majority on Saturday.

Dr Wee was opening the Lumut division MCA annual general meeting here on Sunday.
The division chief Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha questioned why DAP had fielded Dyana Sofya when they knew she could not win.

The DAP, he added, was again misleading the people to divert their attention from its poor handling of serious issues like the hudud move by its Pakatan Rakyat ally -PAS.

Mah, also Gerakan president clinched 20, 157 votes against Dyana Sofya's 19, 919.
The Teluk Intan seat fell vacant after its MP Seah Leong Peng died of cancer on May 1.
