KOTA BAHARU, March 20 (Bernama) -- The Federal government has allocated RM2.4 billion to implement development projects in Kelantan, under the first phase of the 10th Malaysia Plan (RMK10).
International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said the allocation was to carry out 426 projects in the state, as part of efforts to provide facilities and infrastructure to the people.
"We are in the process of identifying and listing projects for the second phase before sending it to the Economic Planning Unit," he told reporters after a state action council meeting here today.
He said for the phase two, a detailed study would be carried out to identify details of the projects to be carried out so that the targeted group would enjoy the benefit.
"Our objective is to provide maximum benefit to the people and at the same time ensure the projects provide value for money. We will also ensure that there will be no wastage of funds," he said.
He said among the main projects involved under RMK10 are the Sungai Golok flood mitigation project, schools and medical care.

Kelantan for the last 50 years had to fight floods every year. The BN is responsible by virtue of the fact that they are the Federal Governmentfor flood mitigation projects. But till today Kelantan is flooded evey year when the monsoon comes. In a Federal System it is ultra virus to the constitution if the Federal Gvernment with holds-funds for the state ruled by the opposition. This is what has happened to Kelantan and Trengganu. If this knid of policies had been carried out in some other developed country in the west that has a federal system of government the states would have taken the road to seperation.
States like Kelantan do not need sudden burst of funds for developement. They need a steady flow of Federal Funds considering that it provides substantial oil revenue to Malysia for development since independence. WE have unfortunately followed the road of many African countries that have oil and have failed to develop the area from where the oil comes from. I am sure that if Kelantan had got its share of federal funds she too would have achieved what that little dot south of Malaysia which did not even have water has achieved. S$400.00 in 1966 to S$44,000.00 today.
Personally, as a person who was born in Kelantan and had to run to Kuala Lumpur for a job I think that the generous offer by the federal Government is too little too late. We must develop the states of Malaysia in a deleberate manner irrespective of whether they are in BN or opposition hands so that our young people can find gainfulf employment and not run to Kuala Lumpur looking for a job. Thank you , Tunku.
well ask kelantan state government to help you moron, easy way to put blame on federal.
