Time for Chinese wake up to DAP’s false promises

It is time for the Chinese to “open their eyes” and realise the false promises made by DAP during the general election, said MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.

He added that the Opposition, especially DAP, had discouraged the Chinese from voting for Barisan Nasional.

“They told Chinese voters that Umno would continue to be arrogant if they win big.

“As a result, about 85% of Chinese votes went to the Opposition,” he told reporters after attending a Hungry Ghost Festival dinner here on Wednesday.

Despite losing the support of the Chinese, Umno still managed to secure 88 seats at federal level and was the biggest winner in Barisan, said Dr Chua.

On the other hand, he said, the Chinese representation in Parliament had weakened.
“Has the increase in DAP MPs improved the political standing of the Chinese after the election?”

Dr Chua said Chinese, who wished to see themselves becoming dominant in the Government, needed to realise the reality of the racial composition in the country.

“We cannot expect the method DAP employs to govern Penang to be applied at federal level,” he said.
