KUALA LUMPUR: PAS has been challenged to include the controversial hudud law in its Buku Jingga if it was serious about implementing the law if the Opposition took over Putrajaya.
Umno Kelantan delegate Mohd Afandi Yusoff on Saturday urged the Islamist party to immediately implement the Islamic law in Pakatan-ruled states before talking about taking it to the national-level.
“PAS talks about implementing hudud law but its partner DAP clearly opposes it. If it is sincere about fighting for Islamic principles, it should push to include the implementation of hudud in Buku Jingga,” he said when debating the motion on religion and education on the last day of the Umno general assembly at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here.
However, he said, PAS is unlikely to do this.
“They have changed their ways because they were pressured by DAP. They can no longer be trusted as they have abandoned their Islamic principles.” he said.
Pontian Puteri Umno representative Hasrunizah Hassan said the Opposition should stop politicising the National Education Blueprint 2013-2015 but, instead, give feedback to improve it.
“The Education Ministry came up with the blueprint after meeting various stakeholders, including those from Unesco and World Bank, but the Opposition are still not happy.
“They should participate and give feedback instead of just criticising our national education blueprint,” she said.
The delegates were also shown two video clips of PAS spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, purportedly leading a short prayer for the destruction of Umno and labelling Umno as a party that had strayed from the teachings of Islam.
Commenting on the videos, Arau Umno representative Fathul Bari Mat Jahya said it was unIslamic for Muslims to pray for the destruction of fellow Muslims.
tunku :i am sure pas has no guts to persuade dap and pkr to include hudud in buku jingga. they are not sure themselves about hudud. it's just because of election and to win the support from the muslim, they will lie to them that they will implement hudud.
