Dirty politics in Unisel

Dr Rosti Resigns As Unisel Vice-chancellor

SHAH ALAM, Aug 2 (Bernama) -- Datuk Dr Rosti Saruwono has resigned as Universiti Selangor (Unisel) vice-chancellor, effective tomorrow, after giving 24-hour notice.
He confirmed his resignation from the post via SMS to Bernama after being asked about the news.
"There was a decision that I was not willing to make, that was, to terminate the services of three Unisel officials without the due process," he said as among the reasons for him to quit the post.
Hailing from Klang, Rosti had once been deputy president of Petronas' Education Division and was the first rector of Universiti Teknologi Petronas before being appointed Unisel vice-chancellor on March 2, 2009.
He replaced Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Razali Agus who vacated the post in July 2008.
When newly appointed to the post, Rosti had said that he would not be a "Pak Turut" (lackey) to any quarters and would ensure that the state government-owned university would not be used to serve anyone's political interest.
According to sources, Rosti was ordered by the Unisel leadership to terminate the services of its registrar Rokmaa Mat, dean of the Business Faculty Prof Dr Khalifah Othman and director of marketing and corporate communication, Halid Hasbullah.

tunku : the selangor state government says that there are fair to all but its just a sentence without any meaning to them. they will terminate anyone who is not supporting them politically. rosti did a right thing, it is a matter of principle and dignity.
