Muslims In Malaysia To Begin Fasting On Monday
KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 (Bernama) -- Muslims in Malaysia will start fasting on Monday.
The Keeper of the Rulers' Seal, Datuk Syed Danial Syed Ahmad today announced that the date for the start of fasting for all states in Malaysia has been set for Monday (August 1) as decreed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, after getting the consent of the Rulers.
The announcement was broadcast by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM).
"As commanded by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong with the concurrence of the Rulers, I hereby declare that the date for the start of fasting throughout Malaysia has been set for Monday," he said.
On July 26, the Office of the Keeper of the Rulers' Seal had agreed that the date for the commencement of fasting would be set, based on both the sighting of the moon and astronomy.
