Let the people have a say in what to do with airport

IPOH: Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Tajol Rosli Ghazali has asked for feedback from the people on what should be done to the under-utilised Sultan Azlan Shah Airport here.
Speaking at the Perak FMM 39th anniversary celebration dinner on Friday, Tajol Rosli gave Perakians two choices - lengthen the runway or relocate the airport to Seri Iskandar.
"If we extend the runway, it may involve demolishing a few houses," he said.
Asking Perak FMM to conduct a survey on the matter, Tajol Rosli said, "The people may not agree with my decision."
Noting that if the runway of the current airport was extended, the Airbus 320 might not be able to land.
"But if a bigger airport is built, it can accommodate the Boeing 747," he added, pointing out that investors would take into consideration the distance of the new airport from the city.

tunku : the are big sharks aiming at the current airport location as it is situated right in the city and if development are made in that area there certainly be a successful development.i feel that ipoh don't need of a bigger airport. firefly can takeover the operation there. afterall ipoh is only 2-2.30 hours away from kl.a person will be in kl faster if they travel to kl city by road. the best thing to do is a faster train service from kl to ipoh, it will be more viable thing to do.
