Khalid finalises water agreement with Federal Govt

The 'Heads Of Agreement' deal on the water supply industry restructuring in Selangor has been signed between the state of Selangor and the Federal Government.

Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim signed on behalf of the state, while Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili represented the federal government.

The signing ceremony was held at the Ministry here, although the media was not invited to the ceremony.
An official said a statement would be issued later.

On Aug 1, the federal government and Selangor state government signed the 'Heads Of Agreement' on restructuring the water supply industry and paved the way for a long term solution to the water issue in Selangor.

It was an extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both sides on Feb 26 to build the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant (LRAL2) and its distribution system.
