PM: Budget 2013 not populist, but the result of good governance

SEREMBAN: The incentives announced in Budget 2013 are not to entice the people to vote for Barisan Nasional in the next polls but are the result of an economy well-managed by an administration bent on doing its best for the people, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. He said the government's resilient policies and well-thought out measures had helped the nation chart impressive economic growth at a time when many other nations, including developed ones, were facing crises or meltdowns. "We are able to do so (provide the incentives) as Malaysia had remained an oasis when many other nations were facing a myriad of economic problems. "The policies put in place by my government has also helped attract both foreign and domestic investments and we are now reaping the rewards," he told the tens of thousands who turned up at Barisan's Janji DiTepati (Pledges Fulfilled) programme at the Paroi Sports Complex here. Also present was his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and wife Datin Seri Raja Salbiah Tengku Nujumuddin. Najib said the government had also taken several measures to stimulate the economy including the listing of Felda Global Ventures Holdings, which eventually became the world's second largest initial public offering (IPO). "We are not a populist government because a populist government will never be able to deliver or fulfil its promises. "They will make all sorts of promises such as giving you the moon, the stars and a place in heaven," he said. Najib said among the more ludicruous and illogical promises made by the Opposition were to abolish the National Higher Education Loan Fund (PTPTN) and toll charges. "If these are abolished, it is you (the rakyat) who will have to bear the consequences as those in favour of this (the Opposition) will conveniently pass on the cost to you," he said.

tunku : the 2013 budget indeed a good and workable budget compare with the fantasy budget created by the pakatan. pakatan's fantasy budget will make government spend 10 times more than it's earning. they want to fish for votes, so trying to give everything free.thank God,they are not in power.they will ruin our economy.
